Publisher's Summary
While walking her poodle, Olivia Limoges discovers a dead body buried in the sand. Could it be connected to the bizarre burglaries plaguing Oyster Bay, North Carolina?
At every crime scene, the thieves set up odd tableaus: a stick of butter with a knife through it, dolls with silver spoons in their mouths, a deck of cards with a missing queen. Olivia realizes that each setup represents a cliché. And who better to decode the cliché clues than her Bayside Book Writers group?

A Wonderful 2nd Installment!
Would you listen to A Deadly Cliché again? Why?
Absolutely. I am an avid cozy mystery listener, and this is hands down my new favorite series. I love the characters, I love how they are developed, and I love how Karen White delivers a spectacular performance.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Absolutely. The plot had A LOT going on, but in a good way. You have a few different things that weave together, and the whole time you are unsure who to trust or what will come next.
Which scene was your favorite?
You learn a bit more about Olivia's past and how that shaped her as the person she is today, and wow it will leave you feeling so many different emotions. You feel sadness, but also a sense of peace for her. The scene at the end of the book which addresses her family is one that was narrated so well and my favorite for that reason
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book brought out every single emotion. It made me cry, it made me feel grief, it made me feel joy, and a sense of redemption. I laughed at a few different parts, and really felt like I knew and understood the characters.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend that you read this series in order! For starters there is a book club, and that theme carries through each of the novels. This is important because each of the characters books are sampled throughout, so for example you will get to hear chapter 2 of Harrison's book, and then later on you get to hear Chapter 2 of Malay's book. However, this folds over into each series, so in the 3rd book of this series the stories continue, and it helps a lot to put them together! Also, there are a few different plots happening, two of the running plots deal with murder and mystery, and one plot deals with Olivia's business venture, and a fourth plot deals with Olivia's personal life (and boy thats a huge and shocking story line). You get to know each character more personally, and reading them in order amplifies that.

Okay, NOW it's a series!
The first book was a bugger to get through. Now that a few characters are established, especially Olivia, the author has been able to further develop her and have the reader develop right along with her. There were several laugh out loud points for me. I tend to go with Olivia's type of humor. And then there was a very tearful point for me, too. The author has me as a loyal listener. Let's hope the momentum keeps moving!

Good story, terrible narrator.
I couldn't even listen to all of the first chapter of this book. The narrator has a voice like nails on blackboard. She sounds like a hyper 6 yr old. I have read all of the books in this series and am disappointed that I will not be able to also enjoy the Ebooks.

the story itself
What about Karen White’s performance did you like?
at first I thought her too clipped too precise. but then realized it really did seem to fit the character. in the end i actually enjoyed it.

Exciting and suspenseful!
The narrator is growing on me. She does have a beautiful voice and for the voice of "Olivia" it now only annoys me when she's calling her dog or shouting to someone. Once again, the story outweighs the maturity of the narrator's voice. The story is very detailed with numerous interesting characters. Very enjoyable story
