I found it a bit dull

This review applies to the title story only.

I read this story due to its inclusion in a Great Courses' lecture (A Day's Read). I first listened to the story, then to the lecture and then to the story again. On first reading I would have given it only one star. I generally like only realistic fiction, and this story is surreal and strange. I found it weird, to be honest. But I listened to the professor's lecture, and learned so much about what Kafaka was doing with the story, and the message he was sharing. That made the second listen more intriguing. I still cannot say I enjoyed it, but I did appreciate it.
