Publisher's summary

Life doesn’t come with an instruction book for the role of perfect wife and mother. However, as Love Taza creator Naomi Davis discovered on her journey from newlywed Juilliard dancer to mother of five, a joyful life is a work of art that only you can create for yourself.

When Naomi launched the popular blog Love Taza a decade ago, she had no way of knowing where that first blog post would lead or the millions of lives she’d impact.

In A Coat of Yellow Paint, Naomi shares new stories, time-stamped as intimate and vulnerable essays , exploring her faith, personal heartaches, challenges balancing a home life with career, motherhood, and her struggles with infertility. Along the way, Naomi illustrates the urgency of celebrating life’s most important things - family, faith, friendship, and an upright piano painted bright yellow - ignoring the critics.

Naomi shares life lessons she’s learned, including how to:

  • communicate openly and honestly in your marriage and friendships
  • be confident in the choices you make as a mother - and why you’re more than “just a mom”
  • overcome criticism - including from yourself - on body image, infertility, and doing “enough”
  • make childhood feel magical, and seek out adventures with your little ones
  • navigate spiritual upheaval and reclaim your faith
  • find more soulfulness in your social media and online experience

If you dream of a life celebrating family, self, and work in a way that feels right for you, A Coat of Yellow Paint will inspire you to drown out the noise of others’ opinions and expectations - so you can be empowered to love your life.

Uplifting while being realistic and fun!

Such a down to earth person, she shares experiences and brings up important topics for discussion as a woman, mother, and human in the busy world we live in. Recommended, absolutely. I hope to be better and find the joy in more of the chaos that is motherhood & love life unapologetically like she does!

Moms need this!

I felt a deep connection to most (if not all) of Naomi’s stories. As a mom of little ones who is in the thick of it all right now, these essays nourished me in a way that other things haven’t been able to. I feel understood and motivated. She shares deeper and more vulnerable stories than she does on her blog. Like working through a crisis with her faith and struggling for years with infertility. Moms need this book and I love that Naomi reads it herself.

I cried. I laughed. I said AMEN!!

So much of what Naomi wrote was exactly how I’ve been feeling in life lately. I cried I laughed, I said AMEN! Her stories were so relatable and so very real for me. I love the advice she gives and found comfort knowing that I’m not alone. Thank you, thank you!!

Like chatting with a close girlfriend about being the best person, wife, mother, & friend.

I’ve followed Naomi through her life adventures on her blog for many many years now. It was so fun to listen to her (her actual voice too!) talk about and encourage me on life’s journey. Literally felt like I was on the couch chatting with my close friend and hearing advice & encouragement on all things: being a wife, motherhood, being a friend, sisterhood, and being a good person in general! Loved it!

Hit me in all the right ways ❤️

Thank you for this book Naomi!

I don’t know, nor do I follow you much on Instagram. BUT your book was so inspiring for me. I am a young mom of 3 little kiddos with the plans of having more. You challenged all my ideas of mothering but in the right way. I am the type of mom that is obsessively clean, from our house to what me and my children eat. I felt like you gave me such confidence to begin to let some of that go! To look around at my children and really notice them. I think sometimes the hardest part of mothering is trying to get out of our own way. I have made so many goals to change after reading your book! I have so much more I could write, but I won’t I have three kids that are hanging all over me ha thanks again!

Beautiful!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I have been following Taza on Instagram for a few years & when I saw she was releasing a book pre ordered it & listened to as soon as it was released. I admire the way she lives her life, loves her husband & encourages her children to be themselves & use their imaginations in such a fun way. You are all a bright light in this world. Thank you for putting this goodness out there. Much love.

Great book!

I just love Naomi. She is and always has been a such a light. Her book is amazing and so refreshing! Loved getting a deeper look into her life. I love her family and the bonds they have and the experiences they get to share. I also love how she talked about some hard things and experiences in this book and how she was able to get through them and find herself in the process. Great book Naomi! Xoxo Jenny Cook Isaacson
