The #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Sinner brings another hot adventure of true love and ultimate sacrifice in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world.

The location of the glymera’s notorious prison camp was lost after the raids. When a freak accident provides Nyx clues to where her sister may still be doing time, she becomes determined to find the secret subterranean labyrinth. Embarking on a journey under the earth, she learns a terrible truth—and meets a male who changes everything, forever.

The Jackal has been in the camp for so long he cannot recall anything of the freedom he once knew. Trapped by circumstances out of his control, he helps Nyx because he cannot help himself. After she discovers what happened to her sister, getting her back out becomes a deadly mission for them both.

United by a passion they can’t deny, they work together on an escape plan for Nyx—even though their destiny is to be forever apart. And as the Black Dagger Brotherhood is called upon for help, and Rhage discovers he has a half-brother who’s falsely imprisoned, a devious warden plots the deaths of them all…even the Brothers.

Critic reviews

"This audiobook starts off with a car accident—Nyx hits a young vampire in the road. As a result of the accident, Nyx learns the location of an underground prison where she believes her sister is wrongly imprisoned for murder. Tension mounts as she goes to find her sister and encounters the Jackal, who helps her with her quest. Narrator Jim Frangione gives the Jackal a deeply masculine pitch that matches his description. He voices Nyx as being fully capable of handling herself yet gives her believable vulnerability when the occasion requires it. This fantasy romance offers a roller coaster ride of passion and suspense."

The warden did it again, she hits it out of the park everytime!! and the narrator, Jim Frangione just brings the story to life for me! can't wait for the next book already! the only disappointment is I read it too fast and it's over already!

LOVE IT ALREADY!!

So there were several logistical things that didn’t make sense...like when Nix couldn’t locate Jack after drinking his blood and why Nix had to be driven home in a car when her grandfather found her. There were also loose ends regarding Janelle and Lucan. Of all the books this one seemed a bit disjointed.

A bit disappointed

I love this author's work but this book took time to finish. In my opinion, there were too mamy details stretching the book out causing a slow and boring start. Around chapter 27 is when it perks up. I guess she was setting up this new series and it leaves you thinking about everyone else...Lucan, Apex, Mayhem?

Super slow start but hang in there

I love when the pieces keep coming together and this story provides more depth to the characters.

Great Story

This is another journey into a new area in the BDB. And a must read for all BDB fans and new readers alike. The story progresses at a good pace and introduces new characters and their background. It keeps you grounded to original characters while sprinkling in new characters with strong connections to the BDB. There is good banter between characters that will make you laugh and heartfelt angles of the story that will make you emotional. I love the introduction of the lycan named Lucian. That will be an interesting avenue, for J R Ward to explore and intertwine in BDB series. She brings this story to life (like she has done for her entire BDB series) and makes you excited for the next in the series. Also, I love Jim Frangione’s narration ... couldn’t imagine anyone else narrating BDB.
