The Allied Lands are in mortal danger.

Three of the most powerful necromancers in the Blighted Lands have banded together into an unstoppable force, one capable of breaching the Craggy Mountains and laying waste to the lands beyond. If they cannot be stopped, they will tear the Allied Lands apart. Nothing will survive. And so Emily, the Necromancer’s Bane, is called upon once more to stand in defense of her adopted homeland and stop the necromancers in their tracks. Her presence may be the only thing keeping the Allied Lands from shattering as the war turns hot once again.

But there is a complication. Six years ago, Emily made a promise to the Unseelie Court, swearing to give them whatever they wanted in exchange for their help. Now, that promise has been called in. The Unseelie want her to travel into the Blighted Lands, despite the risk, and carry out a mission for them. And if she refuses, she’ll die.

Emily has no choice. Gathering an army, recruiting old friends and foes, and preparing new weapons, she sets out to challenge the necromancers in their lair, to complete the oath and win time for the Allied Land to prepare their defenses, to face the true horror of the Blighted Lands...and aware, all too aware, that the necromancers know she’s coming.

For the amount of Story that was in this book the book itself was too short, in order to go into more details than just brushing over it. 😔

Too short

I keep thinking that the last book I listened to was the best, and then he releases another masterpiece!

How do they keep getting better!!!

I was a little nervous of the new voice actress. I'm familiar with her work from other novels, but she did a fantastic job! by half way through the book I couldn't tell much differences from her character voices, compare to the previous voice actress. all in all a terrific book! highly recommend this book series as well as anything else written by Christopher G. Nuttall

this series is getting very interesting!

I stumbled upon these books a few years back, and I have been hooked ever since. I truly enjoy following the adventures that this series leads me through. This book was no different . If you are looking for a good fun read, get into this series.

Never lets me down.

I liked the story and love the mix of politics and thoughtfulness. There are a few notes tho.
-new narrator pronounced Cochatrice and Alassa (spelling) differently and took me out of the story. I was pretty upset about the narrator change but got over it.
-at this point Nuttall doesn’t need to explain the world’s hierarchy as much. If we’ve gotten this far, we already have a good grasp of it.
-“put the thought aside” is used so often in this series but I couldn’t tell you an alternate phrase.

Overall, I love this series!

New narrator but still good

Again Chris has given us another great addition to Emily’s journey. There are only a few things that I have to critique. I miss Tavia as the narrator Saskia did a great job but I miss the voices that Tavia gave to the characters. I know how hard it can be but Emily should stop blaming herself for everything that happens around her, she is on her way to becoming one of the most powerful sorceress in her world, she needs to start believing In her power and her mind. If she can’t deal with the blame other people put on her maybe she needs to disappear for a while, maybe explore the unknown content that appears on the old maps. Anyway great story keep up the great work Chris.

Great addition to the series. With minor nit-picks

the reason for the reducen in the stars is for the change of narrator. not that the new one does a bad job. but the change after 20 books it's a bit odd to hear different voice for characters we know for a long time 😞

Narrators change.

As a fervent admirer of Christopher Nuttall's storytelling prowess, I eagerly delved into "Oathkeeper," fully anticipating another immersive journey into his captivating worlds. True to form, Nuttall's narrative prowess did not disappoint; the world-building, character development, and plot intricacies were all commendable, making "Oathkeeper" a commendable addition to his repertoire.

However, my enthusiasm was dampened by an unforeseen obstacle: the choice of narrator for the audiobook version. Honestly, I struggled to reconcile my appreciation for Nuttall's literary prowess with the jarring experience of listening to the reader's voice.

While the book itself offers a rich tapestry of fantasy elements and engaging storylines, the disconnect between the content and the delivery method significantly detracted from my overall enjoyment. The narrator's tone, pacing, and interpretation of characters failed to do justice to Nuttall's intricate narrative, leaving me feeling disengaged and frustrated.

Despite my disappointment with the audiobook rendition, I wholeheartedly recommend "Oathkeeper" to fellow enthusiasts of fantasy literature. However, I would strongly advise opting for the print or digital version to fully savor Nuttall's masterful storytelling without the distraction of a subpar narrator.

Loved the book but....

Once you get used to the new voices it gets better. I hope the new reader gets better at immitating the voices the previous one drilled in our minds

I guess I got too used to the previous reader.
