Publisher's summary

Learn the secrets to excelling at job interviews, directly from top interviewers and recruiters.

You can't prepare an answer for every interview question. So, of the thousands of questions potential employers might ask, which ones will they ask? And what should you say?

After extensive research among hundreds of interviewers and thousands of interviewees, finally here's the book that will give you the answer.

101 Job Interview Questions You'll Never Fear Again is based on direct input from top interviewers. It offers powerful preparation techniques, the lowdown on how to answer the most common questions, and - above all - how to adopt a winning mind-set at interviews, one that will help you stand out from the pack and land the job.

From classic questions like "tell me about yourself" and "what are your greatest weaknesses?" to puzzlers like "sell me this pen" and "how many traffic lights are there in New York?", James Reed reveals what interviewers are really asking and gives you the best possible answers.

I have an offer!

I have been working as a contractor for a while and breaking back into the professional world has been extremely difficult. I look good on paper but I kept failing at the interview stage many times. After following the advice in this book, I have my first permanent offer in years.

Deep understanding of the job interview and prep

The main thing is the author reduced the job interview, all possible permutations of it, to just fifteen questions. He shows how any interviewee can certainly stick to fifteen prepared responses, no matter how the interviewer presents questions.

Narration was excellent, in my opinion. Yes there were brief times when the material got tedious but the narrator soldiered on and got through each event. 80% of the book was interesting and fresh, I think. Solid, probably great performance.

The author explained one time briefly but authoritatively how he came to understand the interview process and promised he wouldn't revisit his bona fides - he didn't. Also, he didn't try to market himself. If he had, no way I would 5-star this review. By the way, he completely convinced me that he's one of the very top experts when it comes to job interviews. He should put his experiences on an author page.

Reasons were given why the preparation of an interviewee response set is too unique to the individual for expert to offer anything other than general guidelines. The listener is made to understand there's no substitute for examining one's own life to find meaning in it that can be expressed. Nobody can tell you or me how to answer all fifteen question types. No miracles claimed here.

There were so many guidelines in this book as anybody can imagine. For instance, the author explains the futility of trying to trick the interviewer or manipulate the meeting. The people doing the interviewing have usually done a whole lot of it and one learns certain things doing what they do. It's very risky to do anything other than play it straight.

I don't know why there weren't already at least a couple hundred reviews. Seems it could be over a thousand. I think it's a hot book. Not warm, I mean hot.

Not for me

There was a lot of nonsense and fluff which is why it's so darn long (8hrs) and hard to listen to. I only got a chance to listen to the first 30 min. before I realized that this book was not meant for me. I kept wondering when it would go straight to the questions section of the book, I didn't need a long winded intro to this guys life and other peoples lives. I just realized that this book was written from a recruiter and not an actual hiring manager which no wonder...
