We just think we are alone. Rhona Lantier, a young successful dentist, sometimes struggles with boredom. A long weekend hiking in Glacier National Park with her new boyfriend Keene promises some excitement, but a chance encounter with a stranger while there causes events to spiral out of control. A few weeks later, unknown assailants kidnap Keene. Boredom vanishes as Rhona conducts a dogged search for Keene that leads her across several states with dental tools in hand. Will she find him alive or will she be the next victim of otherworldly assailants?

Some contracts can’t be changed by time. Rhona Lantier is a successful dentist on the short side of thirty whose talents far exceed those needed to clean and restore teeth. She has just returned home after an extended and successful search for her kidnapped boyfriend when events inexorably sweep her into a new role with the alien Abantu. Her wide smile falters a few times as the world changes immeasurably around her over the next two weeks.
