When Mona the Mouse stumbles across the wondrous world of the Heartwood Hotel in the middle of a storm, she desperately hopes they'll let her stay. As it turns out, Mona is precisely the maid they need at the grandest hotel in Fernwood Forest, where animals come from far and wide for safety, luxury, and comfort. But the Heartwood Hotel is not all acorn souffles and soft moss-lined beds. Danger lurks, and as it approaches, Mona finds that this hotel is more than a warm place to spend the night. It might also be a home.

Mona the mouse has finally found a place to call home, the cozy Heartwood Hotel, where she works as a maid and sleeps snuggled up in a room with her best friend. Following the festive St. Slumber celebration, most of the guests have settled in to hibernate, and the staff is looking forward to a relaxing winter. But disruptions abound, from a difficult duchess to a mysterious midnight snacker. As the snow stacks higher, Mona will have to gather friends both old and new to keep the peace, finding help in some of the most unexpected places.

There's a new resident at the Magical Animal Adoption Agency-but this one hasn't hatched yet! Mr. Jams brought home an enchanted egg from his last journey, and Clover can't wait to find out what kind of creature the polka-dotted shell contains.

Spring has come to Fernwood Forest, and the Heartwood Hotel is all a-bustle. With Mr. Heartwood off on vacation, it's up to Mona and the rest of the staff to keep everything running smoothly. When rumors buzz of a rival hotel, Gilles is determined to prove that the Heartwood is the very best with the splashiest Spring Splash the forest has ever seen. Guests check in from near and far to compete for the Cutest Egg, the Tiniest Talent, and the Best Blossom.

When Mr. Jams is called away from the Agency on a secret mission, Clover and Oliver are put in charge of the Agency once again. But when Picnic the invisible puppy starts turning visible, and the Agency's green cat, Dipity, begins to look white, Clover and Oliver realize that all of the amazing creatures are becoming ordinary. Even Oliver's trusty magical wands aren't enough to cure them! Will Oliver and Clover learn to work together in time to restore the animals' magical powers?

It's summer at the Heartwood Hotel, and everyone is in a flurry getting ready for Ms. Prickles's wedding to Mr. Quillson! Meanwhile, a new mouse guest named Strawberry comes to stay. She's sweet and soft-spoken like Mona, and gifted in the kitchen just as Mona's mother was—could Strawberry be a long-lost relative? But when lightning strikes part of Fernwood Forest and starts a fire, all thoughts go to the guests and staff hurrying to leave to make sure their homes and families are safe. Mona works to protect the Heartwood from harm, but as the fire rages on, it's becoming dangerous to stay.

Despite her name, Clover has always felt decidedly unlucky. So when she stumbles upon a mysterious cottage in the woods, she can hardly believe her good fortune. It's the Magical Animal Adoption Agency, and it houses creatures of all kinds. Fairy horses, unicorns, and a fiery young dragon are just the beginning! Mr. Jams, the agency's owner, agrees to hire her as a summer helper and Clover hopes her luck has finally changed. But when she's left alone to care for the agency, a sneaky witch comes after the magical creatures! Will Clover outsmart her in time to protect the animals?

Everything is humming at the Heartwood Hotel one year after the forest fire. Yet Mona the mouse feels like something is missing. Something besides the Golden Acorn—a legendary treasure buried and forgotten long ago. When a stranger turns up at the Heartwood with a map, suddenly the whole forest is taking part in a big treasure hunt and the hotel's regular activities are turned upside down.

Now Crimson is off to exciting New Wart City to take wand lessons with her best friends, Mauve and Wesley, and is surprised to discover that their class includes the famous young Broadwart star Miserabella Portentia!

Crimson Twill’s new friends from New Wart City, Mauve and Wesley, are coming for a visit! But as soon as they arrive at Crimson’s house in Cackle County, things start to go wrong. At the rotten apple orchard, Crimson’s ripening spell goes horribly awry (what will they do with all that rotten applesauce?). Then, at the broom-straw field, Wesley cuts too much straw and starts to float away. And when the friends try to collect frogs’ breath for their spells (it makes everything wonderfully green and warty), Mauve gets a stinky faceful of it! What on earth is going on?

Crimson Twill is a little witch, but you might not know it. She lives in the country and loves polka dots and puppies instead of pointy shoes and black dresses. She even wears a big bow on her hat—which is crimson, just like her name. Tonight, for the very first time, Crimson is riding on her mother’s broom all the way to New Wart City to go shopping at Broomingdale’s! The huge department store has everything a witch could itch for. For Crimson, each floor (hats! cats! brooms!) is a new adventure. But is Broomingdale’s ready for a witch as unique as Crimson?

Auch gibt es mit der Maus Emma Erdbeere einen neuen Hotelgast, der Mona sehr ähnlich sieht. Könnte es sich um eine nahe Verwandte handeln, nach der Mona so lange gesucht hat? Doch Mona hat kaum Zeit, sich Gedanken über all das zu machen, denn im Farnholzwald bricht ein Feuer aus und nähert sich unaufhaltsam dem kleinen Waldhotel.

In einer stürmischen Nacht sieht Pippa ein fliegendes Pferd mit silbernen Flügeln und goldenen Hufen am Himmel - ein Zeichen der Götter? Noch in derselben Nacht wird sie zu dem legendären Pegasus-Rennen in den Olymp berufen. Der Gewinner wird zum Halbgott und darf für immer im Olymp bleiben. Pippas Pferd Zephyr ist allerdings eher ein Pony - klein, wild und lieb. Doch während des harten Trainings entwickeln die beiden eine tiefe Zuneigung zueinander. Pippa will das Rennen unbedingt gewinnen, um bei ihrem geliebten Zephyr bleiben zu können.

Endlich hat Mona Maus ein richtiges Zuhause gefunden: Das kleine Waldhotel! Jetzt im Winter beherbergt das Hotel viele Winterschlaf-Gäste, und auch für das Zimmermädchen beginnt die gemütliche Jahreszeit. Doch während immer mehr Schnee im Farnwald fällt, schrumpfen auf mysteriöse Weise die Futtervorräte... Wer beklaut das Waldhotel? Und wie soll Mona in diesem Schneegestöber bloß die Vorräte aufstocken? Sie nimmt all ihren Mut zusammen, um eine Lösung zu finden - und erlebt ein unerwartetes Winterwunder.

Der Frühling hält Einzug in den Farnholzwald, und im kleinen Waldhotel herrscht hektisches Treiben: Das große Blütenfest steht bevor und Herr von Walde, der Leiter des Hotels, ist im Urlaub. Mona Maus, Eidechse Gilles, die Eichhörnchen Tilde und Henry und alle anderen pelzigen, geschuppten und gefiederten Kollegen müssen sich ordentlich ins Zeug legen, um ihre Gäste zufriedenzustellen. Es gibt nämlich Gerüchte über ein anderes Hotel im Wald. Und dann erscheinen plötzlich auch noch ungebetene Gäste.
