  • My Journey Through Fitness: What Exercise Means for Me & How I Got There
    Apr 10 2023

Listen to my mistakes so you don't have to make them yourself.

I've always been active. For the most part. But it wasn't always healthy and it wasn't always productive. This week's episode details my journey through fitness, from an athlete in organized sports, to an obsession with aesthetics and numbers, to someone who began to value movement for the right reasons.

There was a pivotal moment in my life where I quit valuing movement for how it made me feel and rather relied on it for how it made me look. This led me down a dark path that took me years to leave behind.

Hear how I became someone who prioritized health and enjoying life over calories and aesthetics.

What does movement mean for you?

Today I am joined by Allison Snyder, a former gymnast at the University of Kentucky. Allison's career was cut short by an unspecified genetic disease affecting her lungs and overall health. Perhaps despite all odds, she traded in the leo for a pair of running shoes and has posted some pretty impressive times since medically retiring from the sport of gymnastics. In this episode we go through her story, her health, how she got involved in running, and how she continues to persevere.

Allison can be found on Instagram @allisonnsnyder as well as @stopandfindtherosies

Additionally, below is a link to a feature done on Allison by UK Health for more information about her condition.
