  • 014 Living in the GAP — Jaslyn Hall
    Feb 6 2026
Jaslyn Hall woke up one morning and thought, “That’s it.” Not a breakdown . . . a breakthrough. In this episode, you’ll hear Jaslyn’s deceptively simple idea from her TEDx talk, “Living in the Gap”, the space between where you are now and what you want next. If you’ve been feeling restless, stuck, or oddly impatient for the next chapter to hurry up, this conversation will help you slow the mental noise and find a calmer, more powerful way forward. SOUNDBITES [1:41] The “bing” moment when you wake up and realise you’re done . . . and how to navigate the in-between space before the next chapter is clear. [2:28] Defining the gap as the space between “not this” and “not yet” . . . and why it is an active place to grow, notice, and calm the mind. [3:29] How rushing toward the future can steal the present . . . and how to hold dreams without turning them into frustration or urgency. [4:46] How a TEDx talk actually happens . . . from idea to coach to choosing the right platform. [5:27] What makes TEDx different from most speaking gigs . . . strict structure, rehearsed delivery, and submitting the talk in advance. [6:08] Why “living in the gap” matters at work . . . especially for people under stress, running on autopilot, or feeling unseen while their dreams stall. [6:40] Using wellness days to reset perspective . . . and how reflective prompts and practical ideas help people access and stay in the GAP. [7:29] What it looks like in real life when someone seems unshakeably positive . . . and the mindset behind “I’m living in the GAP.” [8:46] Why the gap is not standing still . . . it’s growth in motion, not passive waiting, and not a meditation-only approach. [9:35] The power of general affirmations . . . how abundance thinking supports momentum without obsessing over a single outcome. [11:55] “It’s about the journey” . . . why that line feels too thin, and how the gap is a deliberate pause inside the rat race. [12:46] The GAP as both metaphysical and practical . . . a space for self-reflection and real action that reshapes what happens next. [14:45] Where to learn more and what’s next . . . the website link, the upcoming book, and the invitation to keep moving forward with intention. • 013 STORY: Learning to manage knee-jerk reactions
    Sep 14 2024
Nina Sunday shares her transformative experience from attending a 10-day meditation retreat. Initially, Nina was sceptical about the retreat, requiring participants to forgo external stimuli like books and writing materials. However, driven by a challenge to herself, she decided to join a retreat during the Easter break. The retreat involved strict silence and meditation focused on breath awareness. As the days progressed, Nina experienced vivid and surreal dreams, a byproduct of closing off external inputs. Despite some initial misconceptions about achieving enlightenment, she had a profound realization when the retreat master advised her to “remain equanimous” in response to her enthusiastic description of what felt like a mystical experience. Nina later discovered the core lesson of the retreat - to remain equanimous and manage reactions, rather than being driven by immediate emotions. The practice of equanimity helped her avoid knee-jerk reactions to external events, leading to a more reflective and controlled approach to life. The retreat proved to be unexpectedly rewarding. Upon returning home, Nina received a job offer from ABC Television, a significant career opportunity. Nina couldn’t help feeling that by cleaning up her internal ‘’clutter’’, she somehow attracted the job of her dreams. This experience not only highlights the power of personal growth but also demonstrates how stepping out of one's comfort zone can lead to serendipitous outcomes. In summary, Nina reflects on the importance of controlling one's reactions to external events and how this practice of maintaining equanimity has become a lasting and valuable lesson in her life. • 012 Capture Absolutely Everything, with Nina Sunday
    May 31 2024
Ever stay awake at night, your mind going over and over all the little things you have to do? This is called ‘mind churn’, and there’s a ridiculously simple way to cure it. 1. Write absolutely every task down, not just the critical things. 2. Don’t rely on memory to remember to-dos; it takes up headspace better used for planning, improving, setting goals, establishing priorities and thinking strategically and creatively. 3. Have a system to capture all your to-dos. It enables your mind to relax, so you feel more in control and sleep like a baby Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • 009 Story: Finding my leadership voice, with Nina Sunday
    Apr 20 2024
In Ep 008, I share the story of a pivotal moment when I was just 20 years old and a university student with a part-time job delivering sales presentations to groups in response to advertising. One evening I found myself suddenly and unexpectedly with a full house, including standing room only. Although it felt daunting, I successfully delivered the presentation and collected deposits for future workshops. Next day my elation quickly turned to dismay when my manager accused me of losing the business money due to ineffective crowd management. I consider this my first “scar” in business that manifested years later as Avoidant manager behaviour dealing with my own direct reports; all because of a limiting belief. I wouldn’t speak up about the little things in case team members got angry and decided to leave (as she had done as a 20-year old). My example was the salesperson with the condescending and disrespectful tone of voice. I suffered in silence rather than point out my emotional discomfort to how they spoke to me. Reflecting on my journey in business, I've come to realize the importance of authentic communication and addressing friction directly. I recount an instance where I trusted my intuition to address a hiring mistake, highlighting the power of honesty and authenticity in leadership. I emphasize the need for managers to confront uncomfortable interactions promptly and honestly, rather than pursuing artificial harmony. Finding a balance between being too laissez-faire and overly hands-off versus micromanaging is crucial. Ultimately, I encourage listeners to cultivate social sensitivity, assertiveness, and authenticity in their communication. By doing so, we create a positive work culture where everyone feels valued and heard, including the boss or business owner. • 008 Closing question story, with Nina Sunday
    Apr 12 2024
Episode 8 is a story about sales tactics and my most effective closing question. The story is about the time I took my rookie team member into an after-sale client meeting without properly discussing ahead of time strategy, their role, my role and who says what, (who stays quiet). My inexperienced team member took it upon themselves to "ask" for the order prematurely with a command statement instead of the question style I use that retains the client's perception of choice. Result: We lost the client forever. I then analyse why the question format is more effective to ask for the order than a "should" statement (that isn't even a question) and the difference between an open and closed question.
