  • Episode 6: Kaya Scodelario
    Feb 16 2022

What better way to close out a series of a gym-based podcast than conversations about zombies, being chased by men dressed as alligators and David telling the guest to “fuck off” moments into the show?

Luckily, Kaya Scodelario stuck around to discuss her mixed relationship with working out and the way exercise has helped her overcome the challenges of working in film and starting a family.

Like the episodes before it, the series finale covers a lot of ground from being forced to practice swimming with children to Kaya honing her “constipation face” for a role as an ice skater and the depressing state of hotel gyms.

  • Episode 5: Jacob Anderson (Raleigh Ritchie)
    Feb 9 2022

All bets are off as Jacob (aka Raleigh Ritchie) sets out to derail the podcast in any way he can after being described as the “least into training” of any of BTL’s clients.

Jacob introduces the guys to his fitness alter ego ‘The Ball’ as he reminisces about not being able to move his legs moments before a live show and realising he needed to be naked on screen just days before a shoot.

But for someone who “accidentally falls into fitness” he’s been able to balance acting, music, fatherhood and exercise in a way that’s given him the ability to only work on projects that keep him happy.

From helicopter noises during fight scenes to having the “body of a toddler” and why he’ll never go on Strictly Come Dancing, its anyone’s guess where this chat’s going… good luck everyone!

  • Episode 4: Joe Dempsie
    Feb 2 2022

Like a Game of Thrones series finale, Joe Dempsie (aka Gendry) arrives on the podcast to add a final twist to a story that’s been shrouded in mystery since the start of the BTL podcast (Nicholas Hoult’s anecdote about someone being a bit more naked than they should have been on stage).

Joe also talks about keeping his mental and physical health in check when he rowed out of - and back into - one of the biggest shows in the world, practicing combat moves on his own with hammers and why he got banned from Nandos at the height of Skins’ popularity.

Later in the episode, the boys unearth another on-camera injury and David continues his run of impressive outros.

  • Episode 3: Paapa Essiedu
    Jan 26 2022

Of all the people to ignore a call from Before The Lights, Paapa Essiedu has the best excuse yet.

The boys find out why he didn’t answer the phone and get to the bottom of how he became the only person they’ve ever met to pick up an injury while sat in an armchair.

With Josh being late for the recording, there’s a chance for David and Paapa’s bromance to flourish as they discuss how they trained during lockdown with some of the biggest gym equipment known to man before finding out how an accidental injury ended up on screen.

They also chat about how missing out on awards helped boost the profile of ‘I May Destroy You’ and open the door for more talented writers like Michaela Coel.

  • Episode 2: Olivia Cooke
    Jan 19 2022

The star of upcoming Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon joins George, David and Josh to say very little about a show she’s contractually obliged to not talk about.

They do get a few nuggets of information out of her before coming up with a plot of their own for the series.

Aside from Game of Thrones scoops, expect tales of gym farts in New York, falling over in-front of your crush on sports day and some scream training from Olivia’s time on set during Sound of Metal.

The episode also explores the pressures of the film industry as she discusses being told to lose weight for roles, the impact of what’s expected of actors on her mental health and how she’s adapted her outlook to have a more positive relationship with fitness.

  • Episode 1: Nicholas Hoult
    Jan 12 2022

Near death gym experiences, NSFW wardrobe malfunctions and nearly impressing Hugh Jackman.

What more do you want from a first guest? You’ll know him for his roles in everything from Skins and X:Men to Mad Max Fury Road and The Great but Nicholas Hoult can now also add ‘first person to be stupid enough to answer a call from BTL’ to his illustrious career.

He’s bulked up, slimmed down and gone through extreme dehydration for roles, but how does he keep his body and mind healthy when he’s off set?

  • Pilot: Avengers Swingball
    Jan 12 2022

Meet Before The Lights co-founders George, David and Josh as they explain how they turned a basement in central London into a gym with a client list full of award-winning actors.

After reminiscing about uni, introducing us to the mythical "strong boys" and chatting about their first times on set (including a pull up competition with Jamie Foxx) they call one of their regulars to try and book the show's first proper guest.
