Resumen del Editor

An ancient evil emerges. The Glass Kingdom is at war. Not even the gods can help now.

Full-scale rebellion rages in the south, and Sir Torsten Unger must lead the Glass Army to face it. But when a new and unfamiliar king forces Torsten to march alongside one of his fiercest rivals, he must draw on his faith to keep the army from fracturing.

Whitney Fierstown continues his tutelage of the blood mage, Sora, who is desperate to get a better handle on her mysterious powers. Their journey brings them to the merchant city of Winde Port, where they seek passage to Yaolin City aboard a ship. It's smooth sailing until they realize an old nemesis is hunting them, hell-bent on vengeance and willing to turn to an evil unlike any they've ever faced before.

Winds of War is the epic second installment in the Buried Goddess Saga, perfect for fans of R. A. Salvatore, Brandon Sanderson, and Nicholas Eames.

Better than book one

Book one was great but this went above and beyond. The scope opened up like a dam and the juices flowed! Great job, authors!!!!

Could not put it down

Finishing the first book had me reaching for the second, and I was not disappointed. Thus far, it’s got the same quality as Robert Jordan’s early Wheel of Time books, or Martins Song of Ice and Fire, without the bloat and interminable wait, and with a PG-13 rating. The books have got it: characters you want to read more of, a plot that keeps you guessing, and I can’t see where and how this will end.

EPIC!

OMG...that ending! Winds of War is the 2nd book in the Buried Goddess Saga, and wow did I seriously enjoy the heck out of it. With the king dead and the mad prince newly resurrected, the kingdom is in anarchy and under attack. Bruno and Castle continue to weave an incredible and complex tale full of awesome characters (Whitney the wiseass thief remains my favorite) and spectacular action. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite fantasy series. And did I happen to mention the ending? Holy ****! Did not see that coming at all, and now I need to know what happens next. Epic! (Thank heavens the wait for book 3 won't be that long) HBO or NETFLIX should option these books immediately!

As always Luke Daniels delivers a spectacular performance, once again proving why he's one of the best.

Great second book

The second book was better than the first. Luke Daniels was awesome as always. The only reason the story is getting a four is because of the rage inducing cliff hanger endings these guys come up with.

Torsten and a series of unfortunate events

Almost all of the characters are interesting, even the antagonists, except for Torsten who, while positioned as one of the 3 primary protagonists comes off as mostly brawn and bluster whose tactical acumen seems mostly stuck on CHARGE!, threatening and screaming at everyone and retreating. The thing is, he's obviously a very dedicated servant to the crown but seems ill-equipped to handle his leadership position. I'm hopeful that his, thus far, negative spiral reaches its nadir and begins to climb upward.

There is ample betrayals and subterfuge to spice up the story, along with the introduction of other secondary characters to expand the story arc in lively, erm, deadly ??? Oh, whatever ways. Red Star, or as Whitney calls him, Red Moon who, while untrustworthy, also happens to be pivotal for keeping the Glass Army from total defeat. Whitney continues with his irresponsible antics that somehow seem to almost always favor him. Also, Sora becomes more than a blood mage, much more.

In all, another good book in the series and I'm anxiously awaiting for book 3.

A solid book 2

I received a copy of this book for free. I leave this review by my own choice.

My biggest complaint about Book 1 is that the voice of one of the main characters was a little annoying. That is not the case in book 2. I doubt the narrator did anything intentionally different, but the voice was much more tolerable this time.

Anyway, this is a fun story. I enjoyed the fact that this didnt turn into a story about a single group of people all together having an adventure. Everyone has their own thing they are doing, but everything ties together well.

One thing that I do think the story may be lacking in a bit is character development for Whitney. There is, perhaps, a bit which Thorston points out directly, but I imagine once the series is complete and the entire character arc is able to be viewed together, there will be growth from all of the characters.

Expanding Red Star's role as a foil for Thorston is something I enjoyed a lot. And I cant wait to see what they go through in Book 3.

Magnificent!

If Disney was smart, they would hire these guys to write a Star Wars novel. Seriously, this action-packed fantasy story left my jaw on the floor over how good and fun it was. And no, I am still not a big Fantasy genre fan, but this book has me reconsidering. The characters already feel like old friends to the reader after book 1. Can’t wait for Book 3! Oh, and definitely get the audiobook version. Luke Daniels is fantastic!
