Disappointment

When I first started this series I was captivated by the characters, plot, action and narration. The last 3 books have steadily gone downhill in all aspects. The characters have become so boring with waaaaay too much inner dialog and self reflection. It's as if the writer is just trying to fill time. The story line is plainly repetitive with no individuality. Just a repeat of the previous books with different names. I really miss all the action and drama this series started out with. Lastly, the narrator has absolutely no personality and gives none to his characters. All voices are monotone and sound the same. I KNOW there are better narrators out there so am confused as to how the author doesn't hear it. And what is with that crappy music overlay? It is so unnecessary. If this is how the next books are going to be then I am done with this author.

Maya what's going on??? First I will say the cover is horrible. All the other KGI covers have what I can attribute to the KGI men this made Swanny look like a stalker. Ok so don't judge a book by its cover and all that. Well the story is sooo boring I had to keep checking to make sure I had ordered a KGI book. I wanted better for Swannys story he deserved a more in depth story after all he went through with Nathan. Instead we get the first chapters of people we don't know and the last of Swanny worrying about his scar and ind saying he's not good enough. I was even wondering if Eden was playing him. The story had no real substance. I love Maya's books but you lost me a little on this one. Bring back the true KGI stories and please don't let Joes story ramble on and on about people we don't know. Ok so I will say that I'm glad Swanny has Eden and the ending was good except I've never had to wait for the ending for it to be good before. If you're like me and you don't give up on your author you will find something good somewhere in this book. I'm sorry KGI lovers but it was ok... Oh and let's talk about the narrator. HE IS HORRIBLE. Please bring back the Harry Berkly or find a man with a stronger voice, this Adam Paul is killing the stories and you don't need anymore help with this book. I'm not giving up on Maya's KGI series but please don't let me down again. Happy reading.

Never read anything like KGI series before this. Enjoy audible books.

MAYA...YOU GOT A LITTLE LAZY ON THIS ONE

Don't get me wrong...I enjoyed it as I enjoy all your books...however, there was a lot of repetition that was just not necessary. Too much praise of each other between the H/H over and over and over. Adam Paul as narrator was perfect as usual. Worth the read? Absolutely...could it be better....absolutely!!!

What did you like best about When Day Breaks? What did you like least?

I waited for months to read Swanny's story..I loved how open and honest Eden was about her attraction to Swanny. It seemed genuine and I was invested in them really exploring this attraction. Unfortunately, while I felt he attraction between the two (2) characters, I felt that the story moved too fast and didn't establish a true "I love you, happily ever after feel" that we got in the other Kelly books.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story started off with a potential mystery that we could follow..finding out the threat to Eden. Unfortunately, this was not the basis if the book, so this "action" was solved relatively quickly which was a little disappointing.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I enjoyed the narrator and have gotten used to his voice and mannerisms.

Did When Day Breaks inspire you to do anything?

Unfortunately, no.

I will always be a Maya Banks/ KGI fan, but I was not that thrilled with this particular story. I would have loved to have more "conflict or action" that would bring the characters together and allow their relationship to grow. While we know that Swanny is an "adoptee" of the Kelly family, it would have been nice to know more about Swanny's background, introducing Eden to the Kelly clan, especially Mrs. Kelly, the recovery of Eden after the sttack. It would have been nice to spend a little more time developing their relationship, revealing the villain, and watching it all come together.
