DNA Test Unlocks a Family Mystery

Narrator's voice lacks emotion and inflection.

This story is well-researched and well-written, revealing WWII in Greece, a little-written about setting. Tolsma has done a wonderful job depicting the hazardous situation of Greek Jews. Unfortunately, the narrator is droll. The only voices she does that have any inflection are the male voices, Greek and German, which is strange because the narrator is female.

Great Storyline

This was such an interesting book! I had to stop and look up the history behind it at one point. I learned so much while also really enjoying the storyline. I did struggle with the narrator. While she did a good job, I felt like her voice and the rhythm of her reading distracted from the story.

An Incredible Story of Heritage and Survival

I really had difficulty putting this book down. The story of the Jews during WWII and the horrors that happened melded with a young woman discovering her heritage. A story interlaced with discovery in many lives and the Christian faith was so powerful!
