Reseñas de la Crítica

"Marshall Goldsmith is one of the most credible thought leaders in the new era of business." (The Economist)

"For over a decade I have worked with Marshall in corporations and seen him teach. In my opinion, he is the best at what he does, bar none. He has that rare combination that makes a great teacher-thought leadership, classroom management, and presence." (Vijay Govindarajan, professor and director, Center for Global Leadership, Tuck School, Dartmouth University)

"America's preeminent executive coach." (Fast Company)

Very useful

This is a very good and useful book. Different from many others business self development books, this one is focuses on protecionais in a more senior levels of their careers, it focus on small changes and opportunities that may have huge impact on your next steps. It was very useful for me to note areas of opportunities and flaws that I was blinded to.

Excellent insights

I truly enjoyed reading this book.

A friend of mine, moving from a senior manager role, eyeing a COO position, recommended it. He mentioned the profound impact many of the small things he did every day prior to reading the book, and the changes he had made since, as key reasons for his ascent to the COO position.

I’ve picked up on at least a half dozen things I routinely failed to control and am hoping that I also show improvement towards everyone, my family and friends included.

Would highly recommend this book to anyone, for any reason, as we all have room to improve ourselves.

Thank you for writing this book, Marshall.

Great read for those that want to learn from experience

If you are the type of person that likes to learn from other peoples experiences relative to real life situations, this is a great book. If you are in your 30s or 40s and in any type of leadership position, I guarantee you will find germs throughout the book. Well worth your time

Breaking plateaus by breaking bad habits

According to the Peter’s principle, people get promoted until they reach a position in which they are no longer competent - then their rising through the ranks comes to a halt. This book offers insight into breaking such plateaus by pointing out what behaviors and habits hold people back from rising up:
People climb the ranks due to having certain skills, but at some point doing more with these skills no longer bring additinal value.
Then, instead of doing more, it is better to analyze what behaviors you should stop doing.
That is why at some point technical skills no longer bring value and you should focus on people skills.
Engaging other people builds leverage and as a group you can achieve more.
Finally, while to book is primarily aimed at improving one’s professional skills, it also serves great reminders that all of these tips can be used to improve your personal life as well, as it is more important than one’s career, but people seldomly give it the needed focus it deserves.
