Great Scifi

The Ark Royal series of books have such a different feel to them. The aliens are very different, unique. Ive listened to the Original First 3 books. Found Warspite to be incredibly boring and never finished it... i was very happy with my choice to jump to Vanguard. the Battles have weight to them, and they are action packed. The despiration in We Lead...the all or nothing gamble... it all plays out so well. I was sad to loose some of the characters... but the Ark Royals have always been bittersweet at the end. All 3 Vanguard books were excellent, and im excited to continue.
I really enjoy Ralph listers reading, he has great modulation, excellent pacing, he knows when to pause. he has a way of bringing intesity to the reading and battles.... No he's not great with all the different accents, his "american" is Laughably dreadful, but im ok with that. it deosnt bother me, iv heard far worse. considering this IS a series about the British Royal Navy, id say hes the perfect man for the job.

Have been listening since book one, can't wait until the next one comes out. Good story arch a d.. Even though I don't like "loosing" characters you got invested in, it makes sense to let stories evolve and have popular characters die in the course of the storyline.

great ending

loved it. hope there are more to come, but it's a good ending otherwise. I hope that Onerena(sp?) is the highlight of the next book on her new adventures.

Very good series of books with nice characters coming in maturing and moving on. Sometime the stories can feel a little same stuff different place, race, ship
