The original novel behind the hit fantasy romance comic! When a college student with a tragic past picks up the video game Daughter of the Duke’s Super Love Project, she immediately sees herself in one of the characters. Not the adored heroine of easy mode, Ivonne, but the protagonist of hard mode, misunderstood villain Penelope. Little did she know that she’d fall asleep playing the story…and wake up in Penelope’s body! The only way to escape the game world? Charm one of the love interests and unlock a good ending. But with affection meters starting in the negatives and the inability to speak without choosing from pre-selected dialogue, it quickly becomes clear that a single wrong move means her demise— and this villain might just be destined to die! Villains Are Destined to Die perfectly— really does feel like one of those soap operas that keeps throwing twist after twist so you can’t stop watching.
The main female character (MFC) is written in such a way that even though the game’s mechanics and storyline are brutally unfair, her survival instincts make you root for her every step. It’s that combination of high-stakes drama, cliffhangers, and her sheer will to keep going that hooks readers just like long-running dramas do.
Penelope also feels more real.

I love the novel and webtoon dearly. I have reread them multiple times. It was really amazing finding out it was adapted to audio.
The beginning tone narrative was great but now the tone doesn't match with the book characters or emotions, it feels too cutely/meekly force or not fierce/stern enough from MC, when delivering the line... I had to stop listening... 😔

Great narration transitioning voices usually sound odd but not here. I love light novels so I appreciate this! And the pacing is perfect keeps you engaged story is entertaining

I picked up the audiobook after reading the translated manhwa books and continuing with the ongoing webtoon on Tapas. I have enjoyed the story so much that I decided to check out the original light novel after seeing it at B&N. I was deciding on a digital or physical copy when I discovered the audiobook version. Until now, I hadn't been aware that Korean & Japanese light/web novels were being adapted into audiobooks. It was a pleasant surprise to find this first book in audio format, as a busy parent audiobooks are my primary source of book consumption, and then it was an enjoyable listen as well.

I felt that the narrator had good pacing and enunciation. The attempt at the deeper voices for the male characters pulled me out of it a bit, as the narrator has a high voice and the male characters mostly sounded similar, but overall I felt they did a very good job. The choice to go with a higher voiced female narrator makes absolute sense as the book is written in the first person from a female 17-20yro's perspective. I also noticed the manhwa is very closely written to the source material with relatively minor differences. If you are a busy person I would suggest picking up this adaption. It was a good listen as I drove and/or did housework, etc.

Enjoyable Audio Adaptation of the Korean Light Novel
