Big fan of this book!

I’m a huge fan of this book. I listened to the audio book read by the author which made it even better. Where many parenting books I love put primary focus on neural development of the child and empathizing with the child to affect change in how you show up for your child, this book spends the majority of the focus on you as the parent and what you can control as the parent (your self, your boundaries, your family culture, etc). It felt so empowering to know this information is all immediately actionable things I can grow in myself to encourage my familial values and goals within my household. I loved how non-judgmental this book is and how very inclusive it is of all households including the single parent homes. Some light profanity here and there, but it was tastefully done in my opinion.

Reminding us to have compassion

It’s good to give us alternate solutions with compassion on ourselves and on our kids.

Excellent read for parents AND your inner child!

This book is an excellent tool for new and seasoned parents! The author keeps it very real when sharing her own experiences as a parent and gives great tools, strategies, and examples for helping one examine emotions and behaviors on a deeper level. As a mom of a two year old, this book has helped me to realize when I am triggered or at capacity and to tend to my own behaviors before correcting my child. It’s not easy but our children deserve all the effort. Recommending this to everyone!

To anyone with severe childhood trauma who is looking to break cycles of abuse & unintentional parenting, this audiobook is for you. I can’t wait to listen to it over and over as my child grows.
