Wonderful attention to historical detail

Very nice to read a fantasy novel written within an accurate history of the civilized world of Europe and Asia. Thanks

I love this author. Dan Davis did an amazing job with his attention to detail that shows though his descriptive writing and his knowledge/research on history.

The history is depicted with interest and accuracy

Despite using the “vampire” cliches, this series is great historical fiction. Lively story, good characters and great world building.

Thrilling historic fiction

Dan Davis is a master of his chosen genre, and the only reason I haven't already read all of his books is that I need to take time to digest them in between. They are exciting, impactful, and well-crafted. This book continues the epic story of Sir Richard the immortal knight, and weaves through historic events in the Mongol empire, including the horrific sack of Baghdad in 1258. I look forward to the next one, and to all the other great books Mr. Davis will hopefully write in the future.
