A grief memoir like no other grief memoir.

In 2016, the morning after Valentine's Day, Luke's son passed away from breathing issues complicated by congenital birth defects. He was 21 months old. And his name was Finnegan.

Through comic-book metaphors, Shakespeare references, and lilting Irish brogues, Luke tells the story of his too-short time with Finn. This is his tribute to storytelling, parenthood, and his rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed baby boy.

Very raw and honest

Although it was hard to get through only because the honesty about Luke’s grief really hit home very close to my personal situations of grief. I have never lost a child and cannot imagine going through that. It was told in such a raw and real point of view and interjected with some funny commentary for a little bit of humor.
It’s not the type of book I would normally listen to but I was very intrigued, and not at all disappointed in this beautiful story of grief and a fathers love.

Beautifully Speaking the Unspoken

Luke Daniels speaks the words that have long been unspoken as a witness and caregiver to his son’s life struggle, death, and grief aftermath. He gives humanity and dignity to the whole process, not just for his son’s story, but for the universal experience. Daniels does not hold back, and the hearer understands this throughout. The reading is most moving, heartfelt, direct, bare, and courageous.

This book is a balm to anyone who has gone through the cycle with a loved one. For those who have not had that experience, it is an example of how this person navigates the waters, and gives permission to speak the unspoken.

should be a mandatory book

an incredible story, a wonderful narrator/writer, an impressive important topic. it's not a book about death and grief, but a book about life and celebration. thanks Luke for sharing your story

I re”read” this through Audible and lived it every bit as much as I did the first time - maybe even more.

Great narration

Love!! The story and narration was excellent. 100% recommend. I actually could not say in words how much I enjoyed this.

Be prepared to cry

Luke Daniels is my favorite narrator and this is a very well told portion of his life with his son. If you are like me and search for his narrations, you will most likely enjoy this book.

Emotional, powerful

An extremely touching and poignant story of a father's love and grief for his infant son. The reality of the struggles no parent should have to go through - but some do - is given a voice by this exceptionally talented author whose own personal experience makes it uniquely accurate.
I cried big, fat, sopping tears throughout as well as chuckled in spurts. I wholly identified with the the pain points of being a new parent to a child where things just didn't go quite right.
This books gives justification to every parent to grieve, to deal, and to heal in the best way that suits them and their situation.
