excellent narration. sadly, a story of so many drugs, which at times overshadowed the musical experiences

Amazing narration, but unlike the description, this book is NOT read by Debbie Harry or Chris Stein.
it's a very interesting story that captures perfectly the underbelly of New York in the '60s the seventies and eighties. unfortunately, so much of this book is taken up with drug use that it doesn't really delve into the making of particular albums, or how certain songs came about. in fact, it's hard to keep track of exactly when this is happening until the end of the book when they start using dates in the 2000s. it would have been so much more interesting to hear the recording process and More band interaction rather than the simple fact that he was nearly always stoned. still it's a good book but could have been more. nonetheless, it sheds a light into just how pivotal Blondie has been and how relevant they continue to be.

Chris is a great storyteller and has an incredibly compelling story to tell. I wasn’t a huge Blondie fan but love his photos of NYC, like Blondie, and am fascinated by New York of the 60s to present day. I loved it.

Raw and Real

Full of honest disclosures and raw observations… not your typical rock star bio…. Chris writes in the poetic style of a Haruki Murakami or a Jerzy Kazinsky….a good read!

Great Companion to Debbie Harry’s Biography

I had just finished reading Debbie Harry’s great biography when this came out. To truly understand Blondie I would recommend reading both books. They cover a tiny bit of the same ground, but from different points of view. The affection between these two musicians is obvious and endearing. The insights into the 70’s New York punk scene, the music bustiness, and fame are at times fascinating, funny, and occasionally sad. In the end you will love both artists, the band, and the music they created.

The arc of wild minds and sound.

I loved All of it. The downtown NYC scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s, which I experienced myself and look back with great fondness. Chris and Debbie’s enduring friendship and all the stories starting with Chris’ childhood. My heart cracks for Chris and his lovely family in their unimaginable loss.

Boring succession of snippets

As a longtime fan I was disappointed by the banal anecdotes and pretentious writing. Reminded me of a bad boyfriend who thinks he’s a genius.

Great book.

If you like music, biographies, this is an excellent listen. Very well read and definitely entertaining.
