Amazing audiobook!

This audiobook was perfection! This book is full of second chances, and I love the world this series is set in.

Liora and Vander were childhood secret sweethearts. When they meet again a decade later, and Liora and her daughter are in trouble - Vander waist no time in helping them.

We were sent through this amazing journey, and I loved every moment of it. It was heartfelt, real and raw. And as always with Saman's books, it had the perfect amount of amazing spice 🤍

The narrators did an amazing job, and really brought this story together. ✨

Favorite of the series

What an end to this series!! I loved these two so so much. I have been curious about Vander forever and this did not disappoint! I loved his personality so much. He’s so protective and does whatever he believes is right. Liora was also a great character. She was the best mom and so strong. The audio was phenomenal - the narrators really brought the story to life. I’m sad this series is over but I am ready for what’s next!

Spice and suspense!

This book hooked me from the first chapter. It was my first J Saman book and I devoured it! The character development and packing was fantastic, and kept me turning pages desperate to find out how this is going to unfold. The spice and tension was perfection and fit the narrative and character development perfectly.

Stella's warm, sensual tone was perfect for Liora. She is excellent at playing FMCs that you root for and this was no exception. Connor portrayed Vander with the perfect amount of grumpiness and sweetness. His deep rumble is sensual yet protective and reels you in.

I highly recommend this if you love single moms, second chances, kinky spice, and a bit of suspense in your romance!

Romantic Suspense

This second-chance romance with suspense had me hooked. Liora is a single mom who's been through so much! Vander runs into her by chance and remembers her as the one who got away. This man does everything to keep her. The banter and spice were also so good!

FANTASTIC LISTEN!

I absolutely adored Vander and Liora’s story! While J. Saman’s worlds are predominantly full of healthcare workers, this one is a little outside that realm and I loved that. While Liora is in school and doing clinicals at the hospital, the main focus isn’t that fact.

Back when they were in their mid to late teens, Liora and Vander were in the absolute kind of love that we all aspire to. And then things happen and they don’t see one another again.

Here we are a decade later, Liora is a single mom whose life has been completely destroyed by her ex and she is doing anything and everything she can to provide the best life for her daughter. And when Vander sees this happening, of course he steps in to take care of her. The girl, now woman, who he has never stopped loving.

Their love story is epic and I loved the journey we are taken on with them! Vander is such a complex character – he is broody and secretive, but the way my heart melted in the scenes with him with Liora’s daughter. He loves with his whole heart, even when he doesn’t realize that he is doing it.

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter were the perfect duo in this dual narrated audiobook! Connor was the perfect mix of brooding grump and sweet man, but only for her! And Stella was fantastic with Liora’s strong willed, determined mindset, but also during the times that she let herself feel safe with Vander.

phenomenal story and perfect narration!

ALC review..... Where do I even start? This book was perfection. Vander and Liora’s story is dark, messy, delicious, and achingly tender all at once. From the first charged moment their worlds collide (again) to the quieter, almost ordinary scenes that made my chest ache, I was utterly enraptured. Vander’s confession — “I love you in this light… in every light, in darkness, in the spaces between” — is the kind of line that burrows into your soul and refuses to leave.

Vander Moore is the reason this book works for me. I’m not usually a big-blonde-MMC person, but he is my exception: sinfully hot, ruthlessly intelligent, morally grey in all the best ways, and somehow impossibly soft where it counts. He’s 6’4” (yes, I screamed), his green eyes are “like spring leaves after rainfall,” and his mixture of possessive protectiveness and patient vulnerability had me completely undone. The line “Stupid, sexy, smart, man” couldn’t be more accurate. His little domestic, human moments — sniffing Liora because she used his body wash, asking Hazel if she wants ice cream because she'sscared, being the guy who would buy them dinner every night — balanced his CEO-danger energy perfectly.

The tension and plotting kept me flipping pages.
Liora’s line to that fake agent — “If I see you near my daughter, I will cut out your liver and watch you bleed to death.” — is savage and iconic. Vander being the one to clock that the "fake" FBI agent was actually a goon for Liora’s dad... who was actually an undercover FBI agent — and then watching how he maneuvered around that — was smart, satisfying, and made him feel three steps ahead without being unbelievable. And the scene where the FBI agent literally turns around and lets Liora beat her dad? I laughed out loud and then applauded because yes — justice, messy and glorious.

The romance itself is everything: slow-burn chemistry that bursts into fevered, unignorable heat, and then settles into something tender and steady. Vander’s restraint and then surrender destroyed me in the best possible way. The way he says “Can we tell her? Tell her that she’s mine… that this is her home” when talking about Hazel made me sob happy tears. There’s real found-family sweetness threaded through all the sin and scheming.

Secondary characters are pitch-perfect. Mason, Sorel, and little Hazel add so much texture and humor — Sorel’s quote about letting Vander lock her in the basement if she weren’t married had me cackling. The banter is sharp: “Unlike you gossip queens, I know how to keep my mouth shut” / “So much for keeping your mouth shut, Queen” — chef’s kiss. The book doesn’t shy away from being explicit; Vander’s raw lines are hot and unfiltered, and they suit the book’s tone (yes, even the “I might be obsessed… or infatuated… since that’s a better term… But D@mn is her c¥nt delicious” energy is exactly the brash, unashamed heat this pairing thrives on). If you don’t like spicy, this is not the book for you — but if you do, prepare to be very satisfied.

Overall: dark, twisted family drama + a morally grey, protective hero + a heroine who holds her own = one of my new favorite reads. Funny one moment, devastating the next, and so very swoony when it needs to be. I’m obsessed and aching for more. Five stars, no questions asked.

Enjoyed this dual style narration

I have loved this whole series and listened to the audio for much of it. This was no exception.

Vander and Liora have a history but in the present, it's very much a love/hate relationship. I really enjoyed both characters. Even during the 'dislike' stage, they very much cared about the other. The spice is very spicy and the way Vander steps in to take care of Liora and her daughter was so swoony.

Connor Crais and Stella Hunter did a great job with the audio. It is dual style which I know some don't like but I don't mind it at all. Both of these two do a good job with all voices and didn't take me out of the story at all. There are a lot of characters to portray, including young Hazel, and both Connor and Stella varied everyone enough to make me feel a part of each scene.

Super spicy

I never thought I would say there was too much sex, but a little more plot might help the story out a bit. I also never thought that I would complain that there wasn’t enough angst… but here we are.
He goes from not ever wanting anybody to be stuck with her as his assistant to apropos of nothing going down on her in the garage. I need a little more reasons for that to happen.
Overall redeemable story with a little intrigue. An epilogue that was a little bit farther out and could’ve tied up. Some of the loose ends would have been appreciated.

I had waited on pins and needles for Vander’s book, since his Daddy is still one of my all time favorite MMC’s, I just KNEW he was going to deliver. When I tell you, HE GET IT FROM HIS DADDY!!! Because YALL! Vander DE-LIVERS. Connor Crais was absolute PERFECTION and I genuinely could not think of a better narrator for Vander. I also may or may not have a major girl crush on Liora courtesy of Stella Hunter. The audio was out of this world good and second chance romance gets me EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. When we found out that our FMC was a girl from Vander’s past I was immediately all in and couldn’t wait to watch this unfold. My intensely broody blondie had his hands FULL with Liora, in all aspects of the word and it was delicious as all get out. I absolutely LOVED the suspense aspect of this story, I thought it was exactly what this book needed to really bring out the depth of Vander’s previously closed off character. I legit could not have swooned harder at the way he was with Hazel. It was both surprising and not at the same time and I loved him so much for it. Unapologetically obsessed with Liora, Vander isn’t afraid to take matters into his own hands and I was SO HERE FOR IT. We love a protective man. And did I mention he wears glasses and is a hacker? GIVE ME ALL OF THE COMPUTER NERDS! 😮‍💨😮‍💨

I am so devastated to see this gen come to an end….but if there’s one thing I know Julie will give us, is even more from the next generation to come. 5/5 stars.
