Great on the edge of your seat book

I enjoyed this book. The story kept me engaged. The characters had a lot of depth and the narrator does a great job.

The concept of treasure in this book is a cleaver idea. It is continuously moving making you wonder how it's going to end. Highly recommend!

Preston delivers as usual

The likeable character of Tom Broadbent from Preston's _The Codex_ returns in this fast-paced and exciting book. The book shifts viewpoints frequently, including that of a she-T. Rex. There are elements here that strain credibility, but that doesn't really matter when it's this thrilling.

Great story, narrator is not that good

I loved the story but the narrator Scott Sowers was not good. Like a bad actor reading his lines from cue cards. But the story is great, I am just now listening to this for the second time and I am enjoying it all over again.

an excellent listen full of twists

What did you love best about Tyrannosaur Canyon?

I never outgrew my love of dinosaurs and enjoyed how Preston used the search for the T-Rex to weave this rich story. I enjoyed the many subplots, as well as meeting Wyman for the first time. It was fascinating to be introduced to the illegal fossil trade and I plan on researching more about it as well. It was also a treat to be given a view of the world from the T-Rex's perspective.

What does Scott Sowers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He has a pleasant voice and cadence in his reading which brings the words to a deeper level of life.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

will a blast from the past shatter our furture

I’m becoming a Douglas Preston fan

I like the science aspect of his fictional tales. He also does not force you to endure lurid sexual scenes like some other adventure writers.

Chrichton-Esque

Made for movies with paper thin characters each drawn from central casting. There's the plucky vet (why he's a veterinarian I cannot figger) who just happens to have a zillion dollars in the bank, a beautiful wife, perfect for damsel in distress scenes, and an assortment of people who take about a paragraph each to define for us. The plot keeps the minutes turning... or should I say plots which just barely avoid bumping into the absurd. It all rides on a preposterous decision on the part of the vet's... buy that, and you'll probably enjoy this finely read, but forgettable time-filler. Great listening in the gym.

Highly Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this book! I developed a love of SciFi in college when said channel would run movie marathons while I should have been studying. I first started listening to these authors after getting Relic. I was hooked! If you watch movies on Syfy and enjoy them- these books are great and then some! I am extremely picky about narrators though. I think that this narrator is better than Scott Brick...but unless the narrator is truly heinous, or a woman, I can try to overlook them if the book is engaging enough. I've actually listened to this book twice and enjoyed it both times. I didn't take away stars for the narration because I am so picky- this guy does an ok job compared to a lot of the narrators out there.

Twists and turns everything u expect from Preston

What made the experience of listening to Tyrannosaur Canyon the most enjoyable?

The fact that its set so close to ( a metaphorical) home. Asteroids, scienctists, goverment agencies, aliens, mars missions. The thrill of chasing down the answer before its too late.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot just keeps moving on and changing. The pace doesnt let up, the lead characters come close to disaster so ofte but keep managing to continue.

What about Scott Sowers’s performance did you like?

The narrator draws you in

In the beginning I almost put it down

When I first started listening to this book, I almost put it down, because of a slow start. Thank goodness I continue to listen, because it picked up very quickly and kept my attention throughout the rest of the book. Very educational in the aspects of Paleontology and behind the scenes workings of a museum.

Very Imaginative

I've listened to a number of audio books now and I have to say this is my favorite. I thought the reader, Scot Sowers, was the best so far. Well researched, the book grasps the readers attention from the first paragraph and doesn't let go until the last word. The author and reader made it easy and fun to imagine all the places in northern New Mexico that the story touched on. Some reviewers thought you had to suspend your belief in some places but unless you're a biologist or geologist active in your field you won't find any of the science objectionable.
