Resumen del Editor

It's a fact: twins experience life differently than singleton children. They're compared to each other in everything from athletics to academics. They encounter unique social issues (what happens when one child is invited to a social outing while her twin is not?). They can even have difficulty forming deep relationships outside of the twinship. Yet, no book effectively helps parents navigate these unique emotional challenges until now.

In the first book written on the emotional needs of twins, Twinsight: How to Raise Emotionally Healthy Twins bypasses the usual discussions on how to pay for two tuitions (a conundrum, to be sure!) and instead tackles deeper questions: How do you help twins feel like individuals? Should they be expected to be each other's caretaker? How can a parent avoid comparing? How can you encourage relationships outside the twinship? And more!

Drawing on over 70 interviews with adult twins and their non-twin siblings, as well as expert insights from educators and psychologists and exhaustive research, author Dara Lovitz offers parents a definitive roadmap to raising emotionally healthy twins now and into the future.

So informative!

I have identical twin girls and this book gave me a better insight on how to raise my twins while focusing on their individuality and letting them explore as individuals and not always have to be a pair.

Dad of 1 year old twins

This is a unique perspective into parenting for twins and not in a way you expect. The focus is mainly from the personal experiences of twins and how they felt about particular parenting style. I really appreciated the book covering a “wider view” rather than take you “step by step”. If you are looking for a book that covers how to handle the first two years, this isn’t it; rather this help you gather a mindset for the long term.

Practical Advice for Parents of Multiples

Raising identical twins is challenging. It was helpful to learn from twins/experts practical ways to help them self-identify.
Even after reading other books, I'm walking away with new tools in my parenting toolbox.

Decent Dive into Twin Emotional Health

Focuses on what adult twins have said about their childhood.

The main takeaway is to treat your children as individuals, give them one on one time with you, help prevent people from constantly comparing them to each other, and enable them to have their own individual social relationships (independent of their twin).

A lot of this feels like common sense, but I I think that's easy to say in hindsight, and because excellent books like this has made this information more common knowledge.

I'd recommend the book, but also would say not to expect any life changing revelations.

Your twins are different people, listen to them, and do what's best for each of them individually.

it's a dub

This book is very negative, complainy and unimformative. Being a twin is great and i can't believe so many people would have such negative things to say about it. It wouldn't take a genius to work out that twins are individuals. It's sad that some ppl would treat their children as the same person, crazy. I didn't learn anything here. Treat your kids the same whether they're twins or not and teach your children gratitude, it's that simple.

The Title Promises More than the Content Delivers

I was hoping this book would have more parenting strategies I could start using now with my baby twins because I want to raise them them into confident adults. It was full of interviews with adult twins and a lot of thoughts from the author's memory about things that happened with her own Twins, but as a single parent in my first year of raising twins (my only children) I find the majority of this book to be common sense at this stage. The most off putting section for me was the history of twins in the very beginning which was not only unnecessary but disturbing when reading a parenting book. Knowing how many cultures throughout history have murdered twins is not helping me become a confident mother or helping me raise confident twins. The thing that stands out to me the most is now I know that twins have a higher rate of divorce which is almost as inspiring as the history of twin infanticide.

AWFUL narration

The narration is like listening to Siri read a book. It’s terrible. I really wanted to listen to this since I’m having twins but I couldn’t get past the narrator.
