Resumen del Editor

Reese Conlon’s much anticipated family leave is only two weeks away, and nothing is going to stand in the way of her being at her wife’s side for the upcoming birth—not even the summer crowds in Provincetown, a new rookie cop with a hero complex, and a cruise ship at anchor in the harbor with a reported outbreak of a mysterious illness.

Andy Champlain might be a rookie cop, but she was raised by a family of cops, and she’s ready to take on any challenge, if she only gets the chance. With a disaster brewing in Provincetown Harbor, a journalist who’ll do anything for a story, and sexy summer PA, Laurel Winter, at the local clinic, she’s about to have all the excitement she can handle.

Before long, Reese, Tory, Laurel, and Andy are caught up in the gathering storms of an epidemic that could threaten all their lives.

Good, but could have been better

A lot to unpack here. First, it really bugs me when the narrators switch in a series. I love most of Lori’s other works but after 7 Provincetown books narrated by Nicol Zanzarella, it was weird switching on book 8.

Second, this was not up to the normal p-town standards. The main characters were a bit lacking in depth of story and had so much left to give, especially regarding Andy’s background. Perhaps this has to do with the book itself. The publisher’s summary does not match the book by any means. Literally 2 completely different stories. It’s like Rad was writing one story, but after Covid hit, she quickly ditched that story and turned it into an epidemic-type story, and with the rush job it didn’t meet her normally exception story-telling skills.

Third, I was really hoping to hear about some of the prior characters. Several were in this book but they were literally just a name, with no updates or anything else about them besides Reese and Tori and a little bit of Bri.

Overall it was a good book, and had it come from any other author I would say it was a great book. But Rad has definitely done better work and after so long a wait, I’m a little disappointed.

Felt a bit rushed

I think if there was any place I could visit, fictional or non fictional, it would be Radclyffe's Province Town... Who wouldn't want to go to a place where all the beautiful lesbians are.

But I like other reviewers, I felt that this story was a bit rushed. While there was no mention of the name SARS-CoV-2, Covid 19 or even Coronavirus, the pandemic that they were dealing with resembles Covid-19 to a T, and knowing what we know now about the spread of "a respiratory disease that incubates for 2 to 10 days"... And what's happens when such an outbreak happens on a cruise liner - I feel like this tale was rushed to a resolution without any consideration or respect for the severity of the current pandemic that the world is facing. Radclyffe is medically trained and I get the sense that she rushed to write a feel good novel during lockdown before knowing the facts. The story would have been better with a touch of tradgegy or even a cliffhanger ending as we learn more about the pandemic.

Random continuity question... When did the reference to Sheriff suddenly fall away?

Disappointed!

I was very disappointed with this book. It seemed like the author just threw words on some paper and then slapped it together. I love this series and was excited when I saw another book. The book didn't really talk or provide updates on the characters we came to love in this series. I really don't know what to say...

Comes up a bit short

I love this series, but this one wasn't as good as the others. I thought they actually did a great job with the change in narrator and the story had a lot of potential. However, it felt rushed and like half the story was just missing. Left me feeling really disappointed. There was so much more that could have - should have happened. The rest of the series takes so much care in developing the story and characters. This one was missing that. Still enjoyed it.

Summary didn't match the book

It was enjoyable. The publisher summary is wrong in no way what the book was about.

a little close to reality

the narrating wasn't as good as previous books. think it was hard to distinguish characters after being used to the same person for so long. the subject matter hit to close to home while previous stories have been escape from reality. I hope based of the ending we are looking at another installment down the line. a certain barista and a new emt have some potential. but please bring back all the rest. there was such a lack of the others it was hard to put this in the same collection as the rest of the series

Not the best but still good

First let me say I love allnof Radcliffe 's work and especially this series. The plot description for this book does not match up with the story. I wish they did not switch the narrator although I do love Lorrie Prince but not for this series. lastly, since we're currently living through a pandemic, I would have rather not reed more about it. I would have preferred the plot described on the book (sex trafficking and under cover work)

Best one yet

It’s books like this that let us know Radclyffe is the bet of the best I was glad to see her continue the Provincetown series I enjoyed finding out the going’s on with Reese and Tory and was also glad to see new characters as well which hopefully means more for this series or at least seeing them pop up in another book I love listening to Lori Prince she has a way of pulling you right into the story.

Good , but not the same.

Although Lori did an admirable job performing the novel, over eight books I had grown accustomed to Nicole Zanzarella and her familiar tonality and portrayal of the characters we have all grown to love. It took some getting used to, but in the end it was okay. Something similar occurred with the Honor series when Abbey Craden was replaced for the last installment. Not the same at all, and that one hurt,
I understand that contractual obligations make certain actors unavailable, but it doesn’t change the perception in the end. When it comes to audiobooks, consistency is key. I hope you take this as constructive criticism, Len, but I wanted to be honest. In consolation I do own every book you have ever written and am your most ardent fan. Please keep them coming.
Sincerely,
Brooklyn Graham

Great story. Not so great narration.

I am a huge fan of the Provincetown series. I am so wrapped up in the characters and stories and love the way main characters appear in each story. I was so happy to see that Reese and Tori and all of everyone’s favorite people of Provincetown would be revisited. And I looked forward to Nichol Zanzarella would be back voicing Reese and Tori and Bri and everyone. She will always be the voice of these people to me. Radclyffe delivered big time. The decision to go with a different narrator? Not so much. I hate to criticize someone’s work but this was not good. Through no fault of her I believe. She clearly had no idea of Provincetown’s history. She gave Reese the voice and tone of a 45 year old male chauvinist pig. Reese is a hero to Provincetown and a marine who’s been in a war and all of the love she has for Tori would ever use those tones wither her! And everyone else sounded like valley girls. Very disappointed. I’m going to purchase the Kindle and read it. When I read character lines I’ll have to picture their voices in my head the way Nichol did them.
