Abraxas learned long ago that a life without his soul is not one worth living. Prayers sink beneath the earth as the people of Umbra leave offerings for a new goddess. An elf who sacrificed herself for them. An elf who saw the tidings of war and ended it with a slash of her blade and black blood of a king. Until there are rumblings beneath the earth. Moss that shifts. Stone that cracks.
Cheating death was never the plan. Leaving behind the realm of the dead, however, was always her intent. Lore heard them. She heard her friends, her children, the soul of her dragon and she returns to them as a being reborn. Now she must find him while dealing with newfound powers that might drag her back to the realm she just left.

Characters get annoying.
Overall, I really really enjoy the story. The character development is great and the overall plot is very intriguing. My problem with the story, though lies in the characters. In the first book and a half both Lore and Abraxis are very independent and strong willed characters. Once they realize their love for each other/finally sleep together, they get extremely whiny and codependent and it’s like all of the character development and relationships with non-romantic characters completely falls to the wayside. The whole dying from a broken heart thing was drawn out way too much.

Even though this book had less action, it was about death and leaving behind who you once were and being born into something new.
Lore has been reborn but not without its issues. She discovers this throughout the story. Excited for the finale!
