Outstanding! Beautiful, Heartfelt, & achingly Romantic!

My Goodness what an incredible book. This book includes everything. Superbly written to include... A clandestine meeting. A one night stand. A struggle through oppression & prejudice. Intrigue & mystery. A reveal of secrets along side a fight for personal and social justice. All this peppered with another swoonworthy romance. I absolutely adored this love story that was born of compatibility and passion and grew into friendship and deep love. What I like the best about the romance is that it was hot hot hot but not a bit crude. There always seems to be an extreme in most romance novels being either wholesome and void of any physical intimacy or full blown erotica. These sexual encounters fall somewhere in between. They balance fervent desire with reverent coupling. This is rare. The HEA is original and touching. Then, all narrated expertly. Truly a must read!

General Thoughts This is the second series I've read by this author. I really enjoyed the other series, so I was excited to give this one a go. It was enjoyable. I liked the main characters and their relationship. I love how the author spotlights so many traditionally marginalized people in her books. It adds such an important spark to her books. Many regency novels are devoid of diversity, so I appreciate the author's purposeful inclusion and the research that underlies her books. An enjoyable read. I still prefer the other series (the Luna sisters), but I'm glad to have read these as well.

Slow, lukewarm connections

Started off well enough but the constant victim mentality was wearing…then the dumb decisions she makes you wonder what exactly did he find attractive or interesting in her.
