In the early 22nd century, humanity has spread through the solar system - and their electromagnetic signals have traveled hundreds of light years. An alien race called the Oghaldzon has decided that mankind is dangerously insane...and must be forcibly taken under control.

The invasion fleet's technology is decades ahead of Earth's best. They have more ships than the human fleets combined, and a seemingly-inexhaustible number of ground troops. And they're not afraid to kill billions of people.

Humanity is outnumbered, outgunned, and divided. But they have a few cards left to play - and they're not going down without a fight.

This was a good, solid military and contemporary sci fi the type we are use to seeing from Christopher Nuttall and Leo Champion.

I had High hopes for it. Then I had hopes that I could get through chapter three . I was wrong in this line of wishful thinking.

Dragged on too long, I would listen to it to fall asleep. Author is fixated on sexual themes in the story.

Boring

Why do so many people leave 5 star ratings? I've even seen people leave 5 stars and then proceede to critique the hell out of a book, makes no sense. Please be more thoughtful when rating a work. Please spread the word, if enough of us speak out maybe we can fix this mess because as it is now the system is worthless. Thanks MB

Decent book

There are many history books more engaging. The little amount of time the story gets to spend with each character at a time prevents one from being able to build any attachment or feel connected.

Too many characters. Absolutely no character development. Reads like an outline of a chronology. Highly disappointed

Not on par with Nuttall’s other works

So tired of hearing about Muslims in space, there is no chance. It's not even a remote possiblity, they can barely maintain ground vehicles. so many people are saying this is a conservative heavy book, It's not. Its woke slop with any and all logic left to rot in the sun. Fantastically boring.

Heavy of the fiction in this one.

story is slow but ok, the thing is there are about 5 times super conservative concepts/thoughts are randomly inserted. he seems to be opposed to gays, environmentalist, and any opposition to authority. it's jarring when unexpected.

conservative propaganda randomly inserted

I don’t write reviews often, but the whole time I was listening to this I was thinking about what I would write. So many times I was like “Wait, what did they just say?”.
This book is very weird. I listened to it because it was included and thus free, and I like the narrator, so thought to give it a try. But right away I was appalled by some passages. Continued listening out of curiosity.

In the end I am too tired to write about all the weird stuff, but basically there is not one single character which is relatable and makes you want to follow their story. And there is a lot of strange passages. Like, a character says he’s glad his ancestors were slaves so that now he lives in America and not in Africa. Another says a girl who looks 16yo but could be anywhere from 14(!) to 30 because of some random “living in space effect”, is attractive… (14!!!!!!). And then another character, a Dad, says his 14yo daughter is attractive, and he doesn’t want to think about how many boyfriends she may have had. (14?). The whole thing where women are brought as prostitutes to the belt was weird, the absolute complete absence (no mention ever, even though sex and rape is mentioned too many times) of non heterosexual people in the whole of humanity is weird.
Lots of weird talks about religion and virginity.
Oh, the super powers taking over the world and the small players don’t even register in the conversation, sounds contemporarily weird.
(Spoilers) The aliens put people naked in camps for no reason, “because they don’t care about clothes”. Ok… but what about… temperature? Don’t they understand that humans might feel cold? And then a character makes a joke about being thrown in a camp might not be so bad because… naked women! Got it… It is not written in a way that we understand the character is weird and thus this is about the character and not the authors. No. The whole time it just felt like I was getting a glimpse info the authors’ minds rather than the characters. And I can’t say I enjoyed the experience.

Awful. I wish there were negative stars for this.
