Good but lacks reader experience

I've read this book and preferred reading it rather than listening to it. Demetri often doesn't put a performance spin on otherwise excellent source material. It sometimes sounds like it's being recited rather than performed.

This offers short humorous and mind ticklng bits, so you will not get bored. I have listened to it repeatedly and will again. I hope Demetri Martin does more - love him!!!

Bo Burman is smilar but a bit cruder and less refined.

I really like Demetri Martin and this was decent

I can't say it was THE BEST EVER. but it was solid in the peculiar Demetri Martin way of observing and telling stories about his observations

Some books just can't be audiobooks

I think Demitri Martin is an incredible comedian and his writing is funny in a very intelligent way. Some jokes, however, are better read than heard. This book is an example. While there are definitely some laugh-out-loud moments, I felt the majority of Martin's joke were jokes that simply put a big grin on your face. They're not really that funny, but they're certainly original.

Another thing to add is that there are some jokes in here that don't really make sense in an audiobook, but in a book would actually be quite funny. I say pick up the book version instead. This also makes it easier to go back to your favorite jokes and show them to your friends.

Demetri Martin always has had a knack for abstract and quirky one liners and observational humor, and this audio book proves it. Each chapter is chock full of jokes that can be held in the same honors as jokes he would tell on stage. Demetri is truly a comedy genius, and this is the proof. If you would like to listen to a book where you can jump into any chapter and just have a quick laugh, I highly recommend this audiobook, as well as purchasing the book itself.

I wasn't sure about this as an audiobook, because his stand up involves a lot of visuals but this book was fantastic! Very witty and enjoyable, I will definitely listen to it again and again!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this book because the format of audiobook makes this book hard to follow. I think Demetri is at his best when he has the benefit of having a visual aid, this book drags on and is a tough listen. I really want to like it because I like everything else Demetri puts out.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Demetri has a signature tone when he speaks but unfortunately he maintains that tone throughout the audiobook and it becomes very monotone. It is a short book but being that its so boring it takes a lot of effort and persistence to complete. I've finished 12hr and 8hr books in between this one which is only 4hrs.

Would you be willing to try another one of Demetri Martin’s performances?

I don't think so. Books, yes; Stand-up, yes; Audiobook, no.
