This is a very, very sad story. The characters suffer terrible tragedies. People die in unspeakable ways. Only a truly horrible person would be amused by their misfortune.

Nevertheless, it is kind of funny.

My advice is that you listen to this all by yourself. People can be judgy.

If you’re a fan of A Series of Unfortunate Events, Edward Scissorhands, or the darkest bits of Roald Dahl, the Weirdie triplets - Barnacle, Garlic, and Melancholy - will feel like old friends. After being left behind when the entire estate of Deadeye Manor is packed up for a doomed vacation cruise, the triplets have to learn how to fend for themselves. (When a staff of 200 servants has taken care of your every need, even brushing your own teeth is a mountainous task.) From their time at the Our Lady of the Perpetual Side-Eye Orphanage to their adoptive home on picture-perfect Sunshine Circle, the Weirdies have a lot to learn about the world...but, at least, they have each other.

Kate Winslet is fantastic!

Such an amusing amd odd story! Kate Winslet performed it perfectly. my son and I giggled into the night.

I was sucked in from the start. A wonderfully weird story! I have to get the next one.

For kids but I loved it

The narrator brought the story to life, breaking the fourth wall at just the right moments for a chuckle. It's like a lighter version of a series of unfortunate events. Try it!

If you like a good pecular read

this book is great, not sure I would read it to a small child but an adult or adolescent would like this book. If it was a little longer I still would have liked this book. The reader's voice went well with the storyline.

Good but short

The book is good, if not too short. The story reminded me of a series of unfortunate events, with more humor. I would say it is most enjoyable as a 9-10 year old with some light dark humor. Overall not perfect, but far from bad! - quarantine crazy 11 year old

Wait, what?

This is both charming and ridiculous. I’m not sure if this is actually meant for children, but I suspect it probably is. I’m not one of those, but I did find it amusing.
OK honestly I only listen to this because Kate was reading it, and she still has some residual credit with me from titanic. LOL
I had just come off of reading several long and very serious science fiction epochs, by Joel Shepherd and Peter F. Hamilton, narrated by John Lee. I looked through the plus list, for something short, and came across this. Talk about culture shock! 🤣😃
The narration here is very well done and appropriate for the story. Kate has the perfect calm, unflappable, and soothing voice, to read this kind of fairytale.
I have not previously read a series of unfortunate events, or any of the other things that are mentioned in the description of the story. I picked it up only because of the narrator, and the well written description (which is actually the first few lines of the story, and perfectly encapsulates what you’re getting into).
Cute, fun, and short.Give it a try.

Darkly Hilarious!

The author was right, I can't stop myself, I did laugh!
Kate Winslet's performance here was great. The way she combined her stoic, sarcastic and comedic tone was pure. An audio experience that I totally immersed into.
This one has a ton of value for showing that aspect of love, and found family. Regardless of the weirdness of it all.

P.S. Why that ending though! Need that next one!
