cross between Conan and D&D

nice fairytale

I like the character development and the story line. It was very enjoyable and I can't wait to listen to the next book.

Kinda like an old Conan Book maybe.

Mostly you ride along enjoying his adventures as a passenger and listening his his thoughts on life and his efforts to help folks in a Barbarian way.

Surprisingly good listen

I got it cause it seemed interesting enough. I was half expecting smut with just bloody gore. What I got was a good story from beginning to end with no real cliffhanger.

It’s not overly fantastical, actually realistic in some aspects. Our hero actually gets hurt, uses his head, and while not necessarily the good guy, he’s definitely not a villain.

I enjoyed the read, and can actually see myself getting the next book when I don’t actually know what I want but want something to listen to. I say that because I don’t need the next book to know the end of the first, so I can just pick up the second when I feel like it.

I suggest that you give it a chance, it will surprise you.

Simple and enjoyable

Not sure why this kept popping up in Litrpg for me but let me start by saying this is not remotely Litrpg.

That being said this story is a wonderful and simple fantasy story. It is very reminiscent of Conan which is I think the point. There are no great intellectual debates or mind bending twists. This is a big violent man being big and violent.

That is not to say the MC is dumb or doesn’t face problems. But his simple way of solving this is refreshing. Some stories want to paint their hero as a towering intellect who only uses violence because that is the right thing. This MC using violence because he must and he is good at it. He plays to his strengths and doesn’t pretend to be something he isn’t (kinda, no spoilers).

Is this LitRPG?

I just listened for my second time and it reads kind of like a video game narrative- collecting coins and potions like a warrior in and RPG. Probably wouldn't have paid for this if I'd known.

The book was awesome full of action and and a good bit of humor. I definitely recommend this book. It was great read/listen

If you like Conan then you’ll love this book. Over the top barbarian action that tips toward the unnatural, almost superhuman. But it’s good action and a funny dungeon dive story. I loved it.

Like if Conan was in D&D.

He’s a barbarian. He talk using small words. He have horse named Horse. He hit things with axe. Life good. Then some old man comes along with a proposal to trade his farm and house for a dungeon map and so the journey begins. He gets sidetracked by side quests along the way and it’s just all around fun. No big save the world drama, no politics. Just a man and his horse doing good in the barbarian way. It feels almost episodic in the way each mission has a clear and distinct start and end.
