Romily

You know what I'd like to know? Where the hell my romantic, how-we-got-engaged story is. Am I going to get it any time soon? Where is my big ass diamond?

Unfortunately, all that romance-novel-level relationship angst gets put on (indefinite) hold when my beloved son, Bellamy, is targeted by who knows who was poisoned and then abducted by a wolf-ish person I kinda like. Am I going to get my kid back? You betcha. The question is, how many people does Fox have to kill first?

The Trouble With Trying to Save an Assassin is an M/M paranormal romance with plenty of sass, gore, and questionable decision-making skills (and now there are tiny tables, too).

I really like this series. The narrator is making it even better.. I can’t wait for the next one and hope the rest aren’t far behind.

Good story

Romily, Fox and Bellamy are as busy as ever, protecting the balance of good and evil. There are many great battle scenes which no one appreciates more than Romily--he does love a competent man. These are balanced out by all of the adorable, loving (found) family moments.

We meet many new characters in their magical world, as well as seeing those we already love (or tolerate). The author continues to flesh out the rules of this hidden magical society. We also get to encounter more of my personal favorites, the cherubs. Those little cuties pop up here and there and I love them, even if they're older and more educated than me and Romliy combined. Who can resist a toddler with two PHD's?

There is a heart wrenching scene but everyone gets through it.

The narration brings the characters to life. It's a silly story sometimes from Romily's perspective and that's conveyed in the voices. Good book!

Silly Fun

This book is a little less fun than its predecessor because of the premise (we like Bellamy and are sad he’s been abducted), but that doesn’t mean that the quality has suffered in any way.
The author does a great job with both new characters and expansion on existing ones. I really like that there are characters we don’t really like but are clearly part of the main cast. Most characters really aren’t strictly bad or good, and I really appreciate that. It makes for developed characters who aren’t 100% predictable, and ones that are more likable than flat ones.
New world building is complex and definitely cool, I definitely want to see more. As mentioned previously, this book is unpredictable (not in a “wow that came out of no where” way, but a “wow I really want to know what happens next” way), and as someone who had read/listened to an absurd number of books, I really appreciate that quality. And Foxily remains both spicy, cute, and healthy. Though I will say, by the end of this book, we still haven’t learned why Bellamy was abducted to begin with. I hope that detail hasn’t been forgotten completely and it’s addressed later in the series.
In summary, yes good book recommend lots.

Also, it’s “Cor-a-line.” :)

I love this series, and it's a real treat to have it performed by Kevin Earlywine - his range is really impressive.

The banter, spice, and shenanigans continue in this book (Romily is a treasure) and are just as fun (if not moreso) as in book 1.

The world building continues, and the cast expands in fun ways.

Avoiding spoilers - some meta-plot leads to an incident that is mid resolution at the end of the book. I somehow forgot the big cliffhanger, lol. The good news is that the text version of book 3 is published, so the resolution read, just not listened to quite yet.

I love the lighthearted nonsense of this series that still manages to have some pretty fantastic heart.

The family grows!!

I love this story. ❤️ This book feels darker than the first one. It's definitely lightened by the humor and shenanigans though. Romily is hilarious. I love that Fox would do anything for him and their family. I can't wait to start the next book in this series! I'm so excited for puppers' story!
I had so much fun listening to this. The narrator is awesome. 👌🏻

Great plot, lots of action, feisty characters. The way the MC handles his disability (mute puns are fun!) and the expressions and body language he expresses are hysterical. Loved the fun and cheeky way the main character speaks to the reader every once in a while, pulling them into the story fluidly. How many mute people could effectively capture the heart of a bada$$ assassin, claim another (MUCH older) one as their son, call the female avatar of good “Daddy” (he’s her sweet sugar baby!) and pick up a buff, innocent, daft man as his pup? Yeah. It’s that kind of book. Kudos to a writer has created a mute masterpiece- carrying the funny and sweetly snarky vibe (without becoming overdone or just plain juvenile) from the first through the end of a second amazing book!

Light and fun
