From Michael Wolff, author of the explosive, number one best seller Fire and Fury, comes the mesmerizing story behind the most bizarre melt-down in recent American political history.

The decline and fall of Rudy Giuliani, from “America’s Mayor” to public spectacle, has all the makings of a modern Shakespearean tragedy. Those who know Giuliani, whose tough leadership and even tougher politics helped revitalize New York City in the 1990s and lead the country through 9/11, have stood by and watched with incredulity as he put himself at the heart of impeachment charges against the President.

In The Tragedy of Rudy Giuliani, Michael Wolff uncovers just what happened to the iconoclastic former mayor, and reveals how his apparent self-destruction frames some of the great political questions of the age: How have evidently unstable people come to have such success in institutional politics? How have the mean and nasty achieved such heights in a system that has valued – insisted on – likeability and conventionality?

this is perhaps just a collection of some news. lacks professionalism and journalistic innovation. the narration is monotone and uninteresting.

not much to offer

Always controversial, but now a sorry spectacle. Someone should have saved him from himself, but on the other hand, he chose the path he is on through years of misguided decisions. Sad.

Well written and an easy listen. Narration is solid, perhaps a bit slow, but speed buttons can fix that.

Harsh, but true

Oh my! Whatever happened to our savior NYC Mayor Our hero from 911? He turned out to be a contemptable creature just like his father.

Scathing!!!!

Honestly, I feel like the author made a point to call Rudy Giuliani “obese” or something similar in every chapter. If you are bothered by Giuliani’s BMI, give this a listen.

Lots of fat talk

This held my attention from beginning to end. The narration was swift, smart and riotously funny in many parts. A must listen

Brilliant. Fascinating. Captivating

Giuliani never cared about anyone but his own power and influence. As he became more and more irrelevant, the more he was willing to let go of decent behavior and morals. A cautionary tale.

Sociopathic grifter

I enjoy Michael Wolf’s writing much more than straight news journalists like Woodward or Schmidt, because he describes the feel and the meaning, and yet seems to be sticking to the facts, in fact, exploring the facts, not afraid to speculate about what people are really feeling and thinking. But his perceptions seem to be insights. About Giuliani, the opinions from three people who knew Giuliani in his youth are specially telling. Giuliani was always crazy. Driven, aggressive, perhaps sociopathic. Like Trump, no conception much less affection for the rule of law, or at least for applying it to himself; overlapping business and politics to further his interests, without a twinge of conscience. Always requiring fame and fortune, even if the fame is infamy.

Explains Giuliani

It may seem like this book is one sided but that always occurs when the right is exposed. Whereas the reading seemed overly dramatic it also exposed a sad story of mental health detrioration.
As a result Rudy experienced seeing himself becoming obsolete while trying to be important ie a significant player. Unpleasant but not untruthful.

Why not expose the man?

An interesting perspective on the relationship between Donald Trump and Giuliani, if you can just ignore the many name mispronunciations.

Ok, if you can get past the mispronunciations.
