Resumen del Editor

Frontier Justice is the first book in the post-apocalypse Survivalist series by Dr. Arthur Bradley. (Series Order: Frontier Justice, Anarchy Rising, Judgment Day, Madness Rules, Battle Lines, and Finest Hour).

The Superpox-99 virus has wiped out nearly the entire human race. Governments have collapsed. Cities have become graveyards filled with unspeakable horror. People have resorted to scavenging from the dead, or taking from the living. The entire industrialized world has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, decaying bodies, and feral animals.

To stay alive, U.S. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines must forage for food, water, and gasoline while outgunning those who seek to take advantage of the apocalyptic anarchy. Together with his giant Irish wolfhound, Bowie, he aligns with survivors of the town of Boone in a life and death struggle against a gang of violent criminals. With each deadly encounter, Mason is force to accept his place as one of the nation's few remaining lawmen. In a world now populated by escaped convicts, paranoid mutants, and government hit squads, his only hope to save the townspeople is to enforce his own brand of frontier justice.

Halfway across the country, a killer is released from prison. With hopes set on a fresh start, he rescues a young girl desperate to get home. As they travel across the wasteland that once was the United States, they must call upon every bit of strength and courage to survive not only the horrors of the new world but also a violent government agenda.

The Survivalist

While this is a story of a very real scenario, some of the adventures of the central hero are frankly hard to believe.

a fun book

I enjoyed this book but the narrator struggled to do the different voices. his female voices where just down right creepy for example. but still, an enjoyable action movie in book form

Great listen can't wait to get book 2...

First half a bit "dry"....but then, look out!! Great story!! It gives me hope that there could be real people like Mason. The dog is also a great character! Kept making excuses to drive somewhere so I could listen to the story more as I listen to my books whilst driving...Already downloaded book 2!!

Unique premise, great characters, excellent storyline

I love this series! This first book introduces us to a post-apocalyptic world after a super-virus has killed a large percentage of the world’s population. I really like the main character Mason, as well as his father Tanner. I enjoy the banter between Tanner and Sam, and I love the way Bowie, the dog, is incorporated into the story and treated like a main character.

Jamie Buck does a good job narrating the story. I think his voice is a great match for both Mason and Tanner. He’s a little over-dramatic for me, but it is something I can easily look past and enjoy the book.

Good but Predictable

For someone who favors survivalist/apocalyptic reads, the story lines were quite predictable. However, the characters were interesting and fun to follow.

Good story, terrible narration

What did you like best about The Survivalist? What did you like least?

What can I say, it was a good book. But Jamie Buck should never, ever again be allowed to read books. He is terrible. And if the fact that he only narrates the first book and not the others should tell you that he is terrible. One minute he is speed reading the story, the next, he sounds like "in a world" guy that does the movie preview voiceovers. Its extremely difficult to follow the story as he reads it because at times he makes it sound like these people are just doing their thing like humanity didnt just up and die. While some narrators have the ability to do different voices for different characters, Buck tries, but misses the mark by a long shot. He is just not into it. Sounds like he is there for a paycheck. If you are reading this Mr. Buck, stick to NASCAR commercials and political ads.

Want a great narrator? Try Christian Rummel. After years of listening to dull audio books and sub par narrators, I found Mr. Rummel. And wow! He is fantastic. Check out his readings of The Remaining series by DJ Molle.

As far as the story goes, it was pretty good. I like this genre and believe there can be endless amounts of entertainment to be had. The auther does an ok job get the point across.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jamie Buck?

Christian Rummel

Was The Survivalist worth the listening time?

The story was. The narration was not

Pretty average "apocalypse" story.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. The story never really grabbed me and the narrator was just not good. I had to struggle to get through it. I wanted to reach in to my phone and shake the guy and say "wake up & pick up the damn pace!"

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Again, the reader was almost lullaby level & the story was just empty. So to make it more enjoyable I would have read another book

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jamie Buck?

Duke Fontaine is the best narrator for this genre in my opinion. I'm not even sure if he could have saved this book though.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Maybe if it was on Netflix & it was really late at night.

Any additional comments?

Everyone has a different opinion so you may like it but I can think of 10 similar style books that are better than this one. Especially if you're trying this for the first time. Go with an A. American book first.
