Such fun banter

This was such a great story with fun banter! I loved the narration. Although it was hard to differentiate between the characters at times, the narration overall was great. I felt the emotions from them all and it really brought the story to life. It was my first read of the story itself and sooooo much fun! I can’t wait to read the next one.

I didn’t hate this, I’m just concerned that I liked it considering that they were siblings…not by blood. But I think it’s was new and interesting.

Heartwarming Story, Distracting Narration

The Step Bet by Devon McCormack is a genuinely heartwarming story. I loved the back-and-forth between Troy and Atlas—their chemistry, banter, and emotional connection were so natural and endearing. The love story pulled me in completely, and I would’ve happily given this book five stars if not for one major issue: the narration.

Unfortunately, the narrator made this audiobook almost unbearable to finish. This is the second book I’ve listened to with the same narrator, and I just can’t do it again. The strange slurping sound he makes at the end of nearly every sentence is incredibly distracting—and honestly, gross. It pulled me out of the story so many times that I nearly stopped listening altogether, but I didn’t want to waste my credit.

If you’re an audiobook listener, I’d highly recommend reading this one instead. The story itself is lovely—fun, sweet, and full of heart—but the performance really does it a disservice.

Great story, low angst. Step brothers who fall in love. The chemistry is exceptional between the two and the 🌶️ scenes are great.
