A masterpiece of satire, this classic has entertained and enlightened readers the world over with its sly and ironic portrayal of human life and foibles from the vantage point of Screwtape, a highly placed assistant to "Our Father Below". At once wildly comic, deadly serious, and strikingly original, C.S. Lewis gives us the correspondence of the worldly-wise old Devil to his nephew, Wormwood, a novice demon in charge of securing the damnation of an ordinary young man.

The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging account of temptation, and triumph over it, ever written.

Reseñas de la Crítica

Audie Award Finalist, Inspirational/Spiritual, 2007

Known for The Chronicles of Narnia, C.S. Lewis wrote the wittiest defense of Christianity ever. Humorist John Cleese won AudioFile Earphones for his 1999 enactment of the correspondence between two devils plotting the damnation of one man's soul. Ralph Cosham is a slightly less demented fiend, but the text itself remains hilarious.... Cosham's organ-like voice also lends resonance.... This is, therefore, the best audio ever spoken of the funniest defense of Christianity ever written." (AudioFile magazine)

"Lewis' satire is a Christian classic....[his] take on human nature is as on-target as it was when the letters were first published in 1941." (Library Journal)

Such an amazing description of how we can be fooled by the enemy, most often in subtle ways, sometimes in blatant ways. All believers should give this a hard listen and use it to strengthen our discernment.

Very insightful

Incredible book. Highly recommended. What Lewis does in this book is unravel and expose the human being.... He shows how people think, and reveals the types of sins present in our hearts, even the sins that we are blind to. I've been a Christian for about 10 years, and I'd consider this book to be one of the few MUST READS for every believer.

This was an enjoyable book. The reader was easy to listen to and the text was humorous and enlightening. I found Lewis' words almost prophetic because of the timeless applications. It helped hearing the seriousness of the moral battle in a humorous light. Loved it.

Prophetic in it's worldly applications.

The psychology of evil laied right out in the open. Beautiful description of how evil distorts reality to lead man kind into misory.

Insight for the seeker of truth.

I had wanted to get around to this classic for some time. Now I know why it is a Christian classic. The letters are each an articulate strategy explained by Lewis of certain vices Christians are wise to avoid. Only recently recently would I have appreciated the depth of some of his seemingly simple insights. I am very appreciative for what I feel like was an excellent narration Mr. Cosham. I felt like Lewis was reading the book to me with the cold, strategic mindset of the brilliantly cunning Screwtape. I am challenged to begin amending some of my ideas and behaviors immediately - which is what Lewis would have wanted.

Transforming
