Informative but very limited and not uplifting

Lots of useful information but some inaccurate and some important matters missing. For example the study that relies on cell phone usage to demonstrate that we all have three very close friends at one time and that it's destined to be that way. sure we will all probably top out at 3 very close friends, but the point made by the author completely ignores the likelihood that many people have less than three close friends. Recent studies show that the average close friends is reported to be less than one.

research shows that around 30% of the entire population is lonely at any one instant. that doesn't seem at all consistent with the idea that we ALL have three very close non-family friends.

regarding the advice that you should only keep friends who reciprocate with you seems wrong. I honestly don't know anyone whose friends all reciprocate fairly. I believe relationships are more imbalanced in which one person needs the other enough to be accommodating while the recipient appreciates the accommodation and accepts the new friend.

the book completely ignores the idea that people judge other people at first glance based on things like age, color of skin, height and weight, etc. this means many people start off with an enormous handicap.

how about the proximity rule of friendship? in effect, the best friend you will ever have is your next door neighbor.

how about the idea that to get someone to like you, you almost always only have to like them?

the book felt mostly informative but not really uplifting, which I guess should be it's primary purpose.

One book that i was waiting for years

Such a great book in social and communication skills area. simple and straight forward. Must read if you are looking to improve the quality of your social interactions and likeability. I have definately understood my mistakes and i can see i am more confident already. with the knowledge i have now, i not only know more about myself, i instantly understood and very clear about the strengths and limitations, in terms of social smartness, in my close friends and loved ones, meaning why they are more likeable or why they lack the close and intimate relationships.

Thanks very much Mr.King for writing this book. I am planning to read all of your books or as many as i need to.

Helpful and clear

It contains concrete and quiet simple ideas, but not that obvious ones; and precisely the "not obvious" is what shocks your mind and makes you learn and hopefully change some aspects. In conjunction with the audio book it helped me lots with my listening and speaking skills given that English is not my native languager.

The King of human behavior quick-reads without BS

You always learn something with Kings books. They are well written, don't have a lot of bs, and are organized well. unlike a lot of other books, it seems like Kings books are the length they are. not the length that some publisher says they have to be. the only problem with Kings books are the amount of them. it's hard to try and decide which one to get. they all relate to psychology and human behavior and they are all well reviewed.

Very practical and easy to listen

I wasn’t sure how much I was going to get out of this book but I am so happy I took the time to listen! Awesome content and highly recommend!!! Will listen again.

Interesting book

Unlike most books on this topic, this one isn't entirely a sell help book. It includes a lot of information from scientific studies. It has a lot of really interesting information on the psychological components of our minds that influence our personalities and how social we become.

Most self help books on being social are kind of boring and tell you things you inherently know and often lack solid ways to improve. This one is also a bit lacking on useful tips but i did find it very interesting because of many studies cited. The bit about how dopamine receptors affect how much enjoyment from socializing, leading to certain personality traits was fascinating to me.
