A love story deepens the mystery of the Scarlet Pimpernel even more, as a beautiful young wife will have to choose between her husband and her brother with his demands to discover the identity of the vigilante or face dire consequences. The Scarlet Pimpernel goes to great lengths to show that the mask you wear on the outside is not always an accurate depiction of who you really are on the inside.

The story is delightful, the reader is not
I have read this book twice and watched the movie several times. Both are beloved favorites and so when I went on a road trip with my mother, I thought this would be a good fit for our long drive. The reader has a decent narrators voice but her voice for Marguerite is sickly sweet (think Miss Piggy) and the emotions are all read with the exact same inflection whether male or female. I found myself laughing out loud at some of Marguerite's interactions because they sounded utterly ridiculous.
