Resumen del Editor

A millennium into the future two advances have altered the course of human history: the colonization of the Galaxy and the creation of the positronic brain. Isaac Asimov's Robot novels chronicle the unlikely partnership between a New York City detective and a humanoid robot who must learn to work together.

Detective Elijah Baiey is called to the Spacer world Aurora to solve a bizarre case of roboticide. The prime suspect is a gifted roboticist who had the means, the motive, and the opportunity to commit the crime. There's only one catch: Baley and his positronic partner, R. Daneel Olivaw, must prove the man innocent. For in a case of political intrigue and love between woman and robot gone tragically wrong, there's more at stake than simple justice. This time Baley's career, his life, and Earth's right to pioneer the Galaxy lie in the delicate balance.

Jehosephat

Exactly the ending this series deserved without sacrificing the perfect starting point for the foundation and empire books.

Exciting Mystery with surprises at the end

The narrator does and excellent job with multiple voices making it easy to follow the story. Asimov writes a complex and exciting mystery taking you to a distant planet and looking at mankind through his unique lenses. I loved every minute being taken on a study of various aspects of human nature and the comparisons with robotic minds and past and present cultural norms. And I was not prepared for some of the surprises near the end. I highly recommend the book.

Roboticide amidst unsettling cultural taboos

Isaac Asimov's The Robots of Dawn is his 3rd installment in his robot series focused on a homicide detective from Earth. Although written about 25 years after book 2, the story occurs about 2 years later. This time out, Bailey is again requested to solve a "murder" on another spacer world, Aurora, but the victim is a humaniform robot and only the 2nd one ever produced. Beyond the crime, Bailey faces a political struggle on Aurora that has implications for future galactic expansion that includes a potential role for Earth. Bailey has also been told that failure on his part will go badly for him back home. Along the way, Bailey contends with the general 2nd class status anyone from Earth receives as well as attempting to figure out strange cultural mores that are mildly disturbing.

Given the short span of time since book 2, little in terms of sci-fi is different. Compared to Bailey's previous spacer experience where those inhabitants could not bear to be in another's presence, Aurora is a moderately populated planet where sex appears to be the preferred pasttime. Sex with robots is recognized, but even more disturbing, incest is not taboo due to the fact the parents do not typically raise their children and therefore may not know exactly with whom they are sleeping. Asimov also slips in a unique plot twist at the very end that hints at a greater concern in a future with robots.

The narration is well done with good character distinction.

Once again an excellent story!

Once again Mr. Asimov has a timeless classic that even now in the future still holds a certain classic appeal. Completing this volume showed how off the Hollywood film came from Mr. Asimov's vision and im glad i read his stories and let my imagination soar.

A New Dawn for Robots and Man

This book will keep you on your toes for sure! With each book, Dufris gets better at vocalizing the characters and really brings Asimov's world to life. Definitely recommend this book for those individuals that love a good mystery and detective story. Bailey does it again and the future of both Robots and Man is definitely intriguing!

classic Asimov.

this time I've read this book, the audio version being the best. I wish they would make all his stories in to Movies.

It Dawned on Me

I became so emotionally invested in this book. It’s easy to form an attachment to the characters- especially the relationship between Gledia and Elijah. There subtle references to the other Asimov books that fit in so nicely such as the science of “Psychohistory” as well as the “legends” of robots. It is written in a way to where it seems that Asa mauve wrote these books in chronological order. After I finish the “robot series” I will be going onto the “galactic empire series” followed by the “foundation series”. For years I have been wanting to read Asimov but for some reason I got started on Arthur C Clarke. Until now, I thought that was the only science-fiction I would enjoy. I am impressed beyond measure by this sequel and I even find myself having conversations and speaking in ways that the dialogues occur between characters in this book. It is definitely worth the listen.
