Resumen del Editor

The best-selling author of the popular Renshai series, Mickey Zucker Reichert pens I, Robot: To Protect - the first in a trilogy inspired by the Isaac Asimov classic I, Robot. It’s the year 2035, and robot psychologist Dr. Susan Calvin is beginning her residency at a teaching hospital where patients are being injected with diagnostic nanobots. Before long, Susan realizes that the injections portend dire consequences - and that the nanobots are being used to facilitate a deadly scheme.

Very interesting origin story for the series.

It was just so so. It kept me engaged but not riveted in anyway. It felt like a cheeseburger you eat and then feel sorta satisfied after it’s done. I’m glad I finished it, but was it worth the ‘calories’

Also an intimate look at a MD first year residency

What did you love best about I, Robot?

I was expecting a typical Asimov robot story but instead experienced what it was like for Dr Calvin's first year residency. The book is a teaching experience in psychology.

What does Alma Cuervo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Alma Cuervo put you into the life of Susan Calvin even better than what one would do in reading words on pages.

Awesome

I like the narrator who so easily makes the story come to life.
The story is awesome. I like how the author expects an intelligent audience and makes no apologies for outlining detailed medical cases and asks philosophical questions that make you think.

Merely Okay

The story took so long to develop I had to force myself to finish.

The performance was fine, just a personal dislike for her voice.

An old friend

What did you love best about I, Robot?

The author brings back to life an old friend, the legendary Dr. Susan Calvin. This book definitely feels like it could have been written by Isaac Asimov. In fact, I think this author is better at writing for female characters than Asimov was. Susan Calvin's character is full of warmth and a depth that it hasn't seen before. It is a must-read for Asimov fans.

What did you like best about this story?

Getting to know Dr. Susan Calvin better.

What does Alma Cuervo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She sounds like Dr Calvin always sounded in my head.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, but I had to force myself to take breaks.

Any additional comments?

I really miss Isaac Asimov. Its great that someone can add more to the Asimov experience and, in some ways, exceed it.

A really awesome listen

The story is compelling and the reader was absolutely magnificent. I haven’t been that into a book for years.

NOT I, Robot... should be I, Child Psychiatrist

and I MET an I, Robot... 90% of this book is about a child Psychiatrist. 7% is a love story and 3% is about a robot! (ok, MAYBE 3%)
Furthermore, the main "bad guy" is a 4 great old criminal mastermind (no exaggeration) bent on MURDER because... and I quote "she's just mean" so says the grandma and the CHILD PSYCHIATRIST!!!
oh, the child is also inhumanly super strong and can't be held by two grown adults... a four year old... and she also plans and executes an escape from a guarded, locked mental facility. A FOUR year old... by herself. Just absurd!!

I'm sorry but a scifi book with the name I, Robot... should be a scifi book. Give it a better name.

Interesting _ Mary-Sue Protagonist _ Political

Story:
Overall, pretty interesting - especially having seen the movie prior to reading the book (just FYI - they're nothing alike) - the main character is a bit of a 'Mary-Sue' - her only mistakes are shared by everyone else in the book, and her victories / successes are shared by no one else in the book. It's a slow burn overall - not a bad thing - just something to consider.

Annoyances:
'Pro-Life' people, 'The Right-Religious', 'Gun Enthusiasts' and 'Islamic Terrorists' are put in the same category - described as 'anti-scientific, oppressive, anti-woman, slowing progress and hindering to society' - multiple times - there is little distinction made by the author - if you're not 'Pro-Abortion' then you're the same as Ted Bundy or Bin Laden.

Opinions / perspectives CAN be integrated carefully and thoughtfully - however this book reads like they were jammed in by the author after the final draft was completed - they're not handled thoughtfully, don't enhance the story, and actually denigrate the character (who happens to be the protagonist!) expressing the opinion.

If you can get past the BS scientific / political opinions the author jams in your face, then book is an interesting read.
