“A totally new and original work that stretches his talents to their fullest . . . welcome back, champ!”—The Detroit News

In the twenty-third century pioneers have escaped the crowded earth for life in self-sustaining orbital colonies. One of the colonies, Rotor, has broken away from the solar system to create its own renegade utopia around an unknown red star two light-years from Earth: a star named Nemesis.

Now a fifteen-year-old Rotorian girl has learned of the dire threat that nemesis poses to Earth’s people—but she is prevented from warning them. Soon she will realize that Nemesis endangers Rotor as well. And so it will be up to her alone to save both Earth and Rotor as—drawn inexorably by Nemesis, the death star—they hurtle toward certain disaster.

get one more hidden treasure from the master a science fiction. the concept portrayed in the book is not one visited a lot by other authors and was refreshing.

Repetitive and boring. A perfect example of too much about too little. The story really needed significant editing. Mr. Niven is an amazing and outstanding author but the editor let him down.

Tedious and boring

I had no problem finishing this book. The twists were reasonable and rewarding. Some characters were more fleshed out than others, but I feel that's somewhat common in Asimov - every character doesn't have to have depth.

Scott brick is one of my favorite narrators, he doesn't try to do strange voices and I appreciate that.

Good stuff

On of the best science fiction novels of all time in my opinion. The way Asimov introduces the blend of Science and science fiction is just brilliant with a captivating plot that keeps you engaged the whole time. I can’t appraise the narrator enough. Scott’s narration brings text to life with no gimmicks or stupid accents.

Genius!!!!

Not on par with Foundation. The human relationships and shallow physical references weaken the story.

It's ok. Better than The Gods Themselves...but...

I very much loved this book, as a book. However, as an audiobook, I found it awkward and poorly adapted.

Scott Brick is an excellent narrator, but he couldn't make the audio as believable as when I read this book in paperback.

5 stars for the story, 1.5 for the narration.

Better when read on paper

Brilliant sci-fi concepts. Characters well-developed; some likable, others lie to themselves in various ways. Narration is good although most scientists would be less dramatic.

great story

A true Isaac Asimov look into the future, brilliantly read by Scott Brick putting you into the background to see it all.

Wonderful read
