Resumen del Editor

UPDATE: In response to listener feedback, this audio edition of The Red Book has now been revised to exclude footnotes in the reading.

An audio edition of the famous Red Book text and essay.

The Red Book, published to wide acclaim in 2009, contains the nucleus of C. G. Jung's later works. It was here that he developed his principal theories of the archetypes, the collective unconscious, and the process of individuation that would transform psychotherapy from treatment of the sick into a means for the higher development of the personality.

As Sara Corbett wrote in the New York Times, "The creation of one of modern history's true visionaries, The Red Book is a singular work, outside of categorization. As an inquiry into what it means to be human, it transcends the history of psychoanalysis and underscores Jung's place among revolutionary thinkers like Marx, Orwell and, of course, Freud."

The Red Book: A Reader's Edition features Sonu Shamdasani's introductory essay and the full translation of Jung's vital work in one audiobook. The Red Book is skillfully narrated by Mike Fraser.

Wonderful

This book was wonderful for me as I’m deeply interested in Jung’s work. Please note that the recording and chapter guide do not match once you get to the Scrutinies section. It seems they recorded some of it twice. The whole book is there it’s just off.

Tough Slogging, but Worth It

Having closely studied the Thoth tarot and other older occult systems and philosophies will help one make some inexplicable sense of all this...great narration

Footnote

Almost unlistenable due to the narrator reading every single footnote in the book. After almost every sentence .. “footnote, blabla , end footnote”

Amazing

There is so much wisdom and mystery packed into this book! I only wish that there had been a bit more attention paid to editing the recording. There is even a short section that was accidentally cut out. Needs to be fixed!

REVISED EDITION--FOOTNOTES HAVE BEEN REMOVED

Apparently the producers have, in response to the feedback, removed the footnotes.
I am very grateful for this. I listened to a sample a few months back that included the footnotes and decided not to purchase the book at that time. I found listening to Jung's personal visionary journey in that format much too stressful.

This new revised edition is wonderful and offers the delight that I originally hoped for.

Mysterious and Humbling

I say that because I could only grasp a handful of concepts. I would suggest listwning to some of Jordan Peterson if you want more clarification. He delves into the importance of archetype is psychoanalysis.

He created his own Bible

Jung himself said it would be considered madness when read by others. Nietzsche was broken by his penetrating gaze into the abyss. But Jung conquered, mapped, and diagrammed not just his own soul and journey through the Faust like underworld. But then disassembled and explained all of the constituent parts, how they all work, and how to piece it back together. The book is an experience. My words are inane babble in its attempt to express a cogent review. A masterful scholarly work, especially if you are looking for the deepest understanding of the lowest depths and the highest peaks of what it means to be.

Highly recommend

A profoundly insightful work. We truly know little about the unconscious mind, or as Jung might call it, the discovery of the nature of the soul. Not a casual easy read, it is very sophisticated but worth it. in regards to the crises we face in modern times, the discovery of the nature of the soul or the unconscious mind provides us a path forward out of this darkness of nihilistic chaos that surrounds us.

Work of art

This book is merely a treasure map to one’s soul. That’s sounds a bit profound but I guess that depends on how much you value yours.
