Acerca de esta escucha

From the author of The Anomaly comes the second installment in The Anomaly Files, a series in the tradition of James Rollins of a team investigating American myths and legends.

Still recovering from the shocking revelations they uncovered deep in uncharted territory in the Grand Canyon, American myth and legend investigator Nolan Moore and his team take on a new mission, investigating a rumored case of witchcraft and possession.

Nolan hopes their new case, in a quaint village in the middle of the woods, will prove much more like those he and his team investigated prior to their trip to Kincaid's cavern.

But as the residents accounts of strange phenomena add up, Nolan and company begin to suspect something all too real and dangerous may be at play. A force that may not be willing to let them escape the village unscathed.

"Rutger's creepy, creative sequel to 2018's The Anomaly does a fine job ratcheting up the tension. Fans of supernatural thrillers will be more than satisfied." (Publishers Weekly)

If you're looking for a good follow up to Rutger's The Anomaly, this isn't one in my opinion. I loved the first book of the series as it built suspense leading to a great ending, while this book left me wanting. Pyle does a good job with the narration although I listened to this directly after the first book and I'd have to say that the first narrator did a better job with the voicing and immersion. Overall not a bad read/listen. Just didn't draw me in as much as the first book.

Step back from The Anomaly

I really liked the first book, The Anomaly, but this one wasn't nearly as good. Seemed like most of the book was a build up to the story and wasn't very interesting. The narrator wasn't my favorite either. He was pretty monotone and didn't differentiate the voices very well so it was hard to tell who was who. His Ken accent was terrible, all I could think of was Stewie from Family Guy. If there's a third book I'll give it a try, just hope the narrator is someone else.

Just ok

It's really hard to beat the first book in the Nolan series. The Anomaly was one of the best books I've read in years. Likable characters and an incredible story! As for this book, it was pretty good. Worth reading. Once again the author shows how well they can depict human nature, and I enjoy the continuing friendships between the main cast. The audible performance, however, was hard to swallow when it came to Ken's accent. It was so good in the first book!

Pretty Good

Has some creepy moments, some laugh out loud moments induced by fun and witty dialogue, and the x files esque scifi that I loved in the first book. Just get it and enjoy.

Another great one.

I really want to know from the author, was it his decision to change the narrator? what an effect when you grow over hours of listening, a relationship almost human with the characters. Then those whom you met, analyzed, liked or disliked in your mind, become total strangers in a "weaker" story...or what appeared to be because of the new setting.
Michael, I wished for the same from the time at the grand canyon, and I didn't get that.

Could have been better

Although not quite as good as "The Anomaly" I did enjoy this quite a bit though it took a bit too long for the story to really get going.

Very thankful.

i wanted to read this book because the first one was so fantastic. this one didn't grab me like the other one did or keep me glued... plus the narrator was different and i already had Ken s voice as the other guys. this narrator didn't do ken justice.

a little bit of a let down

These are fun works for sure - they certainly aren’t crafted to win any literary accolades but the author writes good banter (Ken and Nolan are great together).

It’s true, the performance is rough, especially Ken’s “accent.” Still, I will keep an eye on this series if more make it out.

Good follow up to The Anomaly

Great book! I can tell that the narrator was chosen because he really embodied Nolan, but his accent for Ken is so far from British that it sounds like a parody. It veers from Mid-Atlantic to bad imitation of an Australian accent.

Overall the narration is good, but I was occasionally taken out of the story due to this. If the accent had been consistent or closer to being British, I would have given 5 stars.

Great book, sometimes awkward narration
