When Paige Nichols meets her husband’s glamorous new colleague at a faculty mixer, she instantly knows they’re having an affair. It’s the way he looks at her, like she’s the only woman in the world. Aaron used to look at her like that, too. And with her beautiful, knowing smile, Cara Morton seems to enjoy flaunting their romance right under her nose

Paige believes Aaron when he says he’ll break things off. What else can she do when she’s determined to hold her family together? But then Cara makes a shocking accusation about Aaron that threatens to end his career as a college professor and shatter their barely patched up marriage. Paige stands by her husband, but doubts creep in. Is Cara a victim? Or is this all part of her dangerous game?

Then Cara Morton disappears without a trace.

Paige knows her husband can keep secrets. She’s keeping dark secrets of her own. But is he a killer? The police seem to think so. But they don’t know Cara ... they don’t know about her past. They don’t know what she’s capable of…

A twisty and completely unputdownable page-turner that will keep you up all night. Perfect for fans of The Perfect Marriage, The Housemaid and The Wife Between Us.

The story did have twists and turns that were unexpected, however, some of the storylines were hard to follow, and some characters were unmemorable which made it difficult when they reappeared later. Would most likely skip if I had the choice

Not terrible, not great.

This story is written in a strange way. It goes back and forth between dates and times in the recent past, future and further past.

There are too many story lines and coincidences to make sense. Then the ending reveals things that was not needed or was just thrown in to make the story longer.

Aaron and Paige made some really strange decisions that didn’t make sense. Why is he braking into his office after being fired? Why is she looking for Karra’s father who left the nursing home?? Ugh, it just seems weird to me.

WTH??? Spoilers

Angela Henry does it again. The way I detested Aaron from the beginning to the end of this book. He was so damn obtuse and downright stupid when it came to Cara and her shenanigans. I really wanted Paige to take the kids and leave Aaron to navigate the mess he created and suffer on his own. I completely understand Paige’s position as a mother and wife and why she did what she did. The twists and turns were quite pleasing. An amazing excellent story.

She Did What She Had To Do

Good but it could have been better. There were so many side characters and forced connections. It felt non sensical and not as seamless as it could have been. There were at least two “false endings”. Then I get to the epilogue and am annoyed because that should haven been more apart of the story. It really left little impact once everything else was revealed.

Too much going on

The Perfect Affair was my first Angela Henry book, and while the premise was intriguing, the story fell a bit short for me. I enjoyed the dual timeline, but it was sometimes confusing to follow, especially with the numerous twists and shifts in time and perspective. The plot is designed to keep you guessing about who did the murdering, but the execution made it challenging to keep track of the who, the what, and the why.

One of the biggest challenges was having just one narrator for the audiobook. It became difficult to distinguish between the different viewpoints, which took away from the overall experience. I believe having multiple narrators would have significantly improved the listening experience.

Ehhh, maybe i should have read the physical copy
