Resumen del Editor

On August 13, 2018, Christopher Watts murdered his pregnant wife and two toddler daughters. Cheryln Cadle contacted him and started visiting him in prison. Christopher started writing her letters from his prison cell in Wisconsin. These letters had his confessions of things he had never told anyone else. Now she shares the letters and the truth about what happened that fateful night in Frederick Colorado to Shanann, Nico, Bella, and Celeste Watts at the hands of their father. Was he just a monster or was it truly his girlfriend that he wanted to start a life with the reason he was willing to kill his family?

An Honest Review

I feel like that this book did present new information that was not or cannot be found online. The letters from Christopher written to Cherlyn are captivating. I must admit that I had to take breaks from it because it is very intense, and the author, herself, shares that during writing this book she also felt overwhelmed with emotion. I'm writing my review to contest the the negative reviews which for a very long time kept me from reading this publication. There was a lot of negative press regarding typos and repetitive excerpts. The author addresses the typos in Christopher's letters. As for repetitive excerpts, nothing was out of place to me. This book had a lot of missing pieces to the puzzle that were not shown on Netflix or within any YouTube search such as Christopher's confession letters and the interrogation between law enforcement and Christopher. This book answered a lot of questions for me. Once I finished reading it, I felt that I could stop searching for my unanswered questions. In that regard, I was satisfied with this book. That just goes to show to sometimes you need to try a book out for yourself and not take the negative reviews for face value.

Unpolished and Clunky

I understand wanting to have raw dialog. I get why the author didn't tune up the clunky interrogation dialog but it's just annoying! Fix the stammers! Fix the awful grammatical mistakes because a lot of what was said did not make sense.

well if it's actually real to what he says it'll shock you on the thoughts of Chris Watts. so with that said, it's worth listening to it

If You’re Mad; You Didn’t Listen

Great interpretation given about a monster’s perspective and his delusional ambitions on life as a result of his actions.

Does Audible even proof their narrators?

Pretty quickly in this story, the narrator states something about one of the greatest authors of all time, “Truman Compote”… Compote??? Really??? Try Truman CAPOTE. I mean, this is pretty well known. Not sure how she changed it to “Compote”…Then, twice in Chapter 11, the word was supposed to be “jugular”, as in vein, and she says “juggler.”

I would be angry if this were my book and there were so many mispronunciations. It kind of turned me off of the whole thing.

I know this story well and wish this had been narrated better.

Case details abound …and the murderers own disgusting words

I guess I was curious and looking for the nitty gritty and that is what you’ll find here. Along with a whole bunch of bible passages being quoted throughout the book.
I had to force myself to finish this one. I can handle the horrid details, as any true crime fan can. However it was frustrating more than anything. The reading was subpar at best. Robotic. And empty.
My daughter in the other room asked “what is with the computer voice?”

Over all I felt the intention was to excuse an inexcusable act. It lacked the psychological analysis I was hoping for. I feel it was a money maker. A research paper and rewrite of public record. With the addition of the view point the author proudly was given by the killer.
A big portion is written by Chris through letters to the author, his family, and the people he murdered, to beg for forgiveness and understanding that it “wasn’t really him” that committed the crime but a “evil presence.”
Oh and also to complain about how controlling his wife was. Lot’s of that.
I would suggest looking elsewhere if your interested in this case.
Unless you yourself are writing a paper on the murders and want quotes from the killer.

Awesome Story

I’ve read some not so great reviews and at least some were turned off because it was “too religious”. Salvation and redemption is an integral part of this story, it’s his story and Mrs Cadle does a great job as a word smith. I have been captivated by this particular story because I can relate to several parts of it. The first thing I noticed was the Facebook videos. I was with someone who was just the same, she was such a people person and very popular and I was the opposite. It was before the Internet thankfully, however, I was not passive like Chris and sometimes I would just have to scream to even be heard and say, “get the f*** off the phone”. It eventually brought out the very worst in me. Thank God for His grace that I got out short of such a tragedy but not unscathed by any means. I can testify to diabolical influence and I had not one shred of doubt about his letters and story. I also opened myself up to such influence and thank God I did not get anymore delusional than I was. It’s not up to me to forgive Chris Watts but I am not ever going to profess to being so far above him, that is a sure way to fall. Fantastic read of such a devastating story.

I almost didn’t listen, but…..

I went into this thinking I wasn’t going to like it and put off listening to it. As with some of the reviewers, it’s annoying that the producer couldn’t coach the performer better (a quick internet search would have revealed it’s not “maug-HAM”) and it’s not the most well-written work, but I did learn a few things I didn’t know and it was fascinating to hear Chris’ letters. He takes responsibility for NOTHING other than to say he’s so sorry he got led to dark people and dark places that are evidently fraught with “demons”, and then blames everyone (including in a roundabout way, Shannan herself) for why he did it. He spends a horrific amount of time professing his love for his wife and children (disgusting).

Ms. Candle has taken a lot of flak for publishing his “testimony” and she lived up to her part of the bargain; it’s the way she got the deal made with him. Family probably didn’t like that she didn’t take their side, though.

If you’ve been down the rabbit hole on this case like so many of us have, it’s worth a listen. You just have to work through the flaws.

In correct facts about Thrive & Finances

The authors indication of the murder’s use of Thrive is incorrect. First of all a thrive promoter does not have to buy Inventory. The customer buys directly through the promoter’s web page. They pay Thrive & products are delivered to their home. She would only buy promo packs which are less expensive to get more clients. Second Thrive directs you how to use products safely. If he had physical reactions then, he was abusing the product. Drink 2 shakes a day does nothing. As a runner (if he was in fact really running) the duo dtf patches would not cause the effects he blaming on a natural product that contains only a small amount of black tea. Less caffeine than coffee. I have taken the 3 step thrive products for years it has not caused me to act violent. He’s violent and a psychopath. Who knows if he and NK were taking other drugs. In my opinion he was abusing the product or also using other drugs. He killed them because he wanted to be with NK. He is simply an evil wicked person. Many Americans struggle to pay the bills. At the time his mortgage payment was up to date and the next payment was due on the 15th. A lot of misinformed on their financial status. Things were “tight” but it was not unusual for Certain Americans to be in the same financial situation and they don’t go and kill their family. This was all about NK & their sexual practices.
