Acerca de esta escucha

On June 9, 2008, the butchered body of Travis Alexander was found in his Mesa, Arizona, home. The grisly nature of his death made instant headlines: With 29 knife wounds, his throat slit, and a gunshot to the head, Travis was left to die. The prime suspect in the case was Alexander's ex-girlfriend, the attractive and soft-spoken Jodi Arias.

Though Arias initially said that she was nowhere near the scene of crime, little about this case was as it seemed, and before long she had been caught lying to police. As the investigation progressed, her lies evolved multiple times before finally resting on an appalling claim: She had killed Travis in self-defense.

Along the way, startling details emerged about the Mormon couple's relationship, and soon graphic stories of their lurid sexual encounters and jealousy-driven blowouts revealed a dark side to their life together. These revelations launched a trial filled with sex and deception but also raised substantial questions about Arias' deceit, as people from across the country struggled to understand the bizarre world of Jodi Arias.

Now, award-winning broadcast journalist and best-selling author Jane Velez-Mitchell, a veteran of some of the most storied court cases in recent memory, goes behind the scenes of the trial and into the mind of a killer. Using insider accounts from friends who knew Travis and Jodi, Velez-Mitchell turns her sharply-focused lens on Arias and offers her seasoned perspective on the case's most pressing questions. Separating fact from fiction, she reports on the bizarre and explicit stories that have both shocked and fascinated the American public - from Jodi's romantic history before meeting Travis, to their torrid sex life together, to the complicated role their Mormon faith played in the relationships demise. With unbridled access to the evidence and the case's key players, Velez-Mitchell unearths Jodi's contentious life with those closest to her, examining the paranoid and erratic behavior behind each relationship and illustrating the disturbing pattern of a murderer in the making.

Complete with photos from the case and Jane Velez-Mitchell’s fresh insights on the crime, Exposed takes readers behind closed bedroom doors to uncover the truth behind the secret and sordid life of Jodi Arias.

Excellent Jane Velez-Mitchell !!!

I think the telling of this horrible, crime is very well written. If everyone whom had problems as the defendant had, or didn't, have, is so bizarre....to act like somehow that mattered in so far as her insidious crime. I've been through much as many people have ! That to me is ridiculous to say that somehow that could ever justify one, if, not the most horrible and grizzly and terrifying , cruel crimes against another human being Get real-!!!! she had the presence of mind to choose to leave. Abused what a Insult ! I still as of this time July 17 2018, do not know what her sentence is or if she's yet to be sentenced..... Moving on.... the Narrator was fantastic 5 stars to you.. from, Laura Nelson the audible reader and fan . As for Jane Velez-Mitchell, I wish you would write more true crime. I miss all the people back when you all we're on HLN TV......

The Robotic Narration here can be a little Annoying..

As Stated in the title, it’s almost like I can’t make out if it’s a real human, or an; “Elizabeth White Voice-Bot Emulator” doing the narration.. lol
not too bad, but slightly annoying..

And about the Author,
Alot I can say about her,
but I’ll just focus on this aspect,..
Jane Velez Mitchell’s Tone IS somewhat Venomous against Jodi Arias,..
thus obviously a Negatively Biased Hue Throughout the Book..

But So What?!!
Who Isn’t?!!

Especially against a Cold-Blooded Murderer like That?!!
{Ef Her!! ..Arias, that is..lol}
That Monster did a Very Horrible Thing..
and Her Smug-ness about everything afterwords, was nothing less than ‘Flabbergasting’ to Many.
So It’s Very Hard NOT to show ‘Negative Bias’ against such a Horrible person..
so Unlike some Reviews here, That Aspect Didn’t Bother me At All..

But Again, the Narration should’ve been a little more “Human”

I really enjoyed this book.

I also really liked the reader's voice. I thought she did a great job speaking as Jodi.

Totally Captivating !!

Would you consider the audio edition of Exposed to be better than the print version?

This book is amazing.. I literally could not stop listening.. Jane did an incredible job of making the listener/reader feel as though you really knew both Jodi and Travis.. The narrator is perfect for this book.. her voice inflection and tones keep you on the edge of your seat.. At times it's like the characters are actually speaking.. A++++

Who was your favorite character and why?

The entire book and characters were perfect .. I loved the Jodi and Juan Martinez

What does Elizabeth White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is incredibly talented and a perfect narrator ..

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely !!

Any additional comments?

I plan on listening to the entire book again..

Wonderfully narrated, unabashedly biased

I recommended this audio book to anyone who enjoys delving deeply into one of the most mesmerizing and intriguing true crime stories of the last 10 years. The story is well written and wonderfully narrated. This is not a neutral accounting of the case in any way. The author is very clear in her bias against Jody Arias and her part in this brutal crime. But, this is not to be unexpected as Jody was convicted by a jury of her peers.

Incredible! perfectly balanced and detailed

Would you listen to Exposed again? Why?

I have and would, this is just so well executed that I have listened to it twice all ready

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

This story is truly unique, there are so many twisted elements throughout. I find the structure of the narrative of this story compelling. Setting up the crime, then diving into the details and the history of Jodie, finishing with the case itself.

Every chapter delivers intrigue and disgust at what happened.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The chapter which talked about the recording that Jodie had taped of her and Travis. Its very sexual and graphic, and I had to see the courtroom tapes on youtube to hear the voices first hand. I was horrified to see the family having to endure this recording and listen to the sex talk of there dead son.

Any additional comments?

The writer is spot on and in depth and the narration is effortless, very easy to listen too. I like how the author tells it how it is, Jodie is a liar and a fraud, everything she says must be called into question.

Interesting chronicle of a horrific crime

The jury has decided Jodi Arias is guilty of the murder of Travis Alexander. The background of Jodi and Travis's relationship, Jodi's previous relationships and her ever evolving story was interesting. the descriptions of the trial were fascinating.

All this being said, within minutes of starting the book the total bias to one side became evident and carried through to the last. Ms. Velez-Mitchell seemed to spend the entire book telling me why her opinion was the only correct one rather than just conveying what would have otherwise been a compelling story

I wont be reading her other book. On the other hand, Elizabeth Whites performance was very good.

Good story, Bad narrater

Any additional comments?

I did not follow the case in the news so i thought i would buy the audio book. Was very informative but the narrator was very annoying in her halting voice. The author was very biased but that is understandable being that this case was no way a "whodunit".

Informative and Educational

The psychopathology is amazing to analyze. For a layperson, JA's behavior is so over the top, it helps to distinguish between typical human behavior range and pathological red flag behavior.

The Narrator's voice was very annoying!!!

Where does Exposed rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Awesome book, but I could not stand listening to the narrator. The narrator would try to do male and female voices of different ages each time they'd read a quote, until finally I just couldn't take having that in my ear anymore. Other than that, the book is great!
