Do yourself a favor and just read it

Start to finish this book kept me on the edge of my seat, I could not finish it quickly enough! I hung on the narrator’s every word, desperate to know where Paige’s journey was taking her. Much like a certain greedy mime lord we know, the Pale Dreamer has captured my attention and I won’t stop until I know how far she will go!

One of the BEST narrations I’ve heard!

This series is GRIPPING!! So many twists, turns, failures and successes! I can’t wait to see how Paige handle the chaos that’s been thrown her way.

Gripping

I finished this in just a few days. I couldn't keep myself away. A stunning improvement on the previous title that was already great itself.

Just Mesmerizing! Fantastic!

I love sci-fi/fantasy and I have to be really impressed to spend money/credits or whatever on a second book and really, really, really impressed to bring home four. But the first book just knocked my socks off. If you don’t care for science fiction or fantasy, I’m pretty sure this boos and the sequels would convert you. The narrator is excellent. I was a bit thrown when I started listening to the second book because it sounded like a different person. It did take me a while to get used to that, but one becomes so immersed in this story that one must continue. Now I’m used to this small change and looking forward to book #3.

The characters are so well portrayed in this future land of England. I have the opportunity to stand up & cheer as well as moan & groan when they aren’t making good judgements. I am constantly pulled from one end to the other trying to figure out who to trust, who to believe and what wondrous abilities our heroine is going to uncover in her basket of uncanny tricks.

It’s a love story that is filled with heartache and powerful feelings. The circumstances at the end of book two still have me wondering how this powerful attraction can possibly end in a “happy ever after” scenario. There is a heart wrenching account of a young love that lasted for years on one side, but it is not to be. I could just feel the heartache.

The story moves fast. There is so much happening all the time that it’s hard to put down. I was constantly trying to find a good place to take a break, but breaks were hard for me to find. I just had to read a little more because always there was something that I wanted to find out. In other words, this book is well written and constantly holds one’s attention.

Great story with a bit of everything: romance, ET’s, war, monsters, betrayals, friendships, freedom fighters, slaves, gladiator-type matches, a coming of awareness for a young girl, and on and on and on.

I believe everyone should at least read the first book. And then see if they can stop there. It’s like Lay’s chips - you can’t read just one!

Cudos to a terrific writer, Samantha Shannon, and a great narrator, Alana Kerr Collins. Ladies, ya done good!!!

Shannon does it again

Wow. The story. The narration. Everything was Brilliant. If you haven't picked this series up yet do so now!

OMG!

Wow! I started Samantha Shannon with Priory of the Orange Tree and was blown away then on to the prequel for that book … pure poetry! So I thought … let’s see about The Bone Season, which was fantastic… but this one… underscores my assessment of her genius. I will search out and absorb everything this wordsmith creates!

Perfect performance

This entire series has been so well narrated, the story line wouldn’t even matter. But on top of that narration the story line IS FANTASTIC. I hope they keep the same narrator for books 5, 6 &7.
