New version not as great?

Re-read this in 2025 and felt disappointed by the new version. Maybe I’d built it up too much after loving it so much the first time? Picking the series back up since book #5 just dropped—this old memory needs a refresher. Off to book #2!

Talk About Slowburn

This is my second time reading one of Samantha Shannon’s books, and compared to“Priory of the Orange Tree,” this was much easier to digest. It is one of those books that you have to get through a chunk of to really love it, but now I have, and I do. 😁

I loved the original, and this anniversary edition was just splendidly revamped. Definitely worth a listen.

Absolutely enthralling

This was a completely enthralling story I was drawn in from start to finish! Also perfect for spooky season.

Solid Science Fantasy

I enjoyed the Bone Season. It included a bit more human history and politics than I'm accustomed to, but Shannon made it work.
All in all, it was a solid story and a good read! The audio book performance was spot on!

Wonderful revision!!

This is one of my favorite all time series and the newly update version is fantastic!! Excellent narration as well.

Worth it

I was tentative to purchase another version - and I actually really liked the first edition - but the story was really engaging from the first chapter. With the slight character personality and event adjustments it almost felt like a different story. As it relates to the later books, this version of Paige makes a little more sense. As always, the narrator is great. I’m so happy they were able to keep the same person. Overall - Worth it!

Obsessed with this author!

This is definitely a book that had me obsessing over every detail. When I didn’t have time to listen to it I was thinking about it and when I was listening to it I couldn’t stop. Definitely worth ranting to your coworkers about even though they do not care.

Absolutely beautifully written

I have been wanting to read this edition for a long time, the revisions are subtle but do give so much more to the story. The reading was beautiful, outside of all of the characters pretty much sounding the same, that said there are so many that creating a separate “voice” would be tricky. All and all I so so so enjoyed this book and the performance. I cannot wait to read and listen to the next books in this edition of the series! A definite must read!
