Resumen del Editor

The number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Deceivers delivers a gripping John Wells thriller that takes listeners into the darkest shadows of a silent war....

One morning, a former CIA agent is shot to death in the street. That night, an army vet is gunned down in his doorway. The next day, John Wells gets a phone call. Come to Langley. Now.

The victims were part of an interrogation team that operated out of a secret base in Poland called the Midnight House, where they worked over the toughest jihadis, extracting information by any means necessary. Now Wells must find out who is killing them. Islamic terrorists are the likeliest suspects, and Wells is uniquely qualified to go undercover and find them. But the trail of blood leads him to a place he couldn’t have imagined: home.

Classic John Wells

Good story that delves the the thorny issues and moral dilemma forced on those that fight a war on terror

Good Story, but Lacked the Perfect Ending

This was a good well written and presented story. The ending however, seemed like Berenson got tired of creative writing and just let it meander to an ending. Still makes for a good "read." I gave it 4 stars.

Finely crafted

I've enjoyed all four of Alex Berenson's John Wells books. Like the ones before it, Midnight House is a tightly plotted and well-written adult thriller. The pacing is a bit slow, but the story nevertheless holds your attention. The ending is an enticing setup for the next book in the series. As always, George Guidall's nuanced, intelligent narration adds enormous value to the experience. Guidall remains, in my opinion, the best narrator in the business, and he is in top form here.

Least favorite John Wells

Save your credit and or money. This one is lackluster at best. Believe me on that

Is it George Guidal or the story I like

I'm beginning to wonder if I like any decent story that Guidal narrates. This time I think it's both the story and the narrator. Again after reading this book I've really did learn more about this complicated world we live in. Authors like Flynn & Berenson teach us the background of very complicated societies around the world, their politics and usually some basic history about the culture. Understanding those aspects of different countries enables you to better understand the daily news you hear about the world. Once again this book entertained me, educated me and distracted me. That is a great book from my perspective.

Slow Starting

I've enjoyed previous books in this series, but this one was tough to stick with long enough for it to get interesting. The whole Cairo trip was quite contrived and the early body count was an overly detailed prelude to Wells' actual involvement. If the next one is like this, I will be far less inclined to continue buying these. (Love George Guidall though! Anything he reads I'll give a try.)
