And as the days tick by and the obstacles mount, they realize that everything they do may not be enough.

A most awesome adventure. I hope the series continues.

If you have never liked audiobooks, you have never heard this narrator. He is always outstanding, and his characters' voices are always consistent from 1 book to the next in a series.

Another great Wells novel!

A long struggle spanning two books comes to an end in a series of twists that will keep you entertained.

5-Star Story

Story is a sequel to "The Counterfeit Agent" and cannot be appreciated without listening to that book first. Extremely fast paced with just the right amount of small details to enable the listener to become fully absorbed in the plot and change of events. I felt the ending however lacked substance following the final showdown. Narrator George Guidall moved the narrative along expertly. I am looking forward to hearing more books narrated by him. Hats off to Berenson's writing skills as well. He turns a phrase beautifully, although I am not inclined to reading or hearing another tale about his main character John Wells (former CIA superhero). Would look forward to finding books about other main characters Berenson has developed.

Entertaining

Entertaining but the John Wells stories function like a tv series. They go on forever.

the Finish to Lady Story

Great story,with ticking calendar.clock, good propulsion... let's jusr say it has it all. Enjoy this series but feel strongly this is edited or rewritten by the great Craig Johnson with that sly country boy humor descriptive style .

Great finish to a two part book.

Make sure you read book 8 first. it was a great finish and a good read.

John wells series has become my favorite. Sad there’s only a few left for me to listen to.

Narrator superb, story line exceptional. Outstanding book in the typical John Wells tradition. Be sure to read these books in order.

Great continuance of the John Wells character

If you have followed the development of John Wells as a character and you like Berenson's style of writing, this is an audiobook that should not be missed.

Berenson has consistently been able to insert a core group realistic but flawed characters into well-developed, exciting plots that reflect current international intrigues. Though Wells and his allies are often bound together by circumstance rather than choice, it's hard not to "pull" for them – even like them for what they are.

For audiobook listeners white myself, continuing to use George Guidall as the performer is a big plus. Not only does Guidall master of a wide range of voices, language and accents, he also understands story pace and transitions.

A reader can start with this ninth novel about John Wells and still be satisfied – though it probably makes more sense to have read/listened to prior novels to appreciate the life transitions of the protagonists.

I look forward to Berenson's next John Wells release.
